We are seeking a qualified Transport Planner with between 3 to 5 years' experience to join our Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East. The candidate must be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 3-5 years of traffic engineering, transport planning and traffic modelling experience in the Middle East. An ideal candidate should possess the following, but not limited to:

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent is a must.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning.
  3. Knowledge of Middle East and International Transport Planning standards and procedures.
  4. Has worked within a team.
  5. Master's degree in transport planning or equivalent field is desirable.

Responsibilities

  1. This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
  2. Understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.
  3. Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.
  4. Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
  5. Experience in undertaking junction analysis to support the traffic impact assessments.
  6. Contribute to preparation of reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis and parking assessments.
  7. Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken.
  8. Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
  9. Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  10. Some experience in project/financial management.
  11. Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally.

What we're looking for

  1. Experience in traffic engineering and transport planning projects across UAE.
  2. Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  3. Understanding of various authority guidelines and manuals in UAE.
  4. Experience with traffic engineering software (SYNCHRO / SIDRA / HCS).
  5. Understanding of transport modelling software (STEAM + / PTV VISUM / PYV VISSIM).
  6. Can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  7. Strong communication and personal skills.
  8. A highly developed interpersonal skills, such as high competency in listening and communicating.
  9. A positive attitude that focuses on always improving teamwork and co-operation.
  10. Good communication skills, oral and written, including presentation competency.
  11. Ability to work without excessive supervision.
  12. Ability for self-checking & correction of work.
  13. A team player.
