Role Summary: The Director of Packaging, Innovation, and Industrialization will play a pivotal role in driving the strategy and execution across three critical areas: Packaging Development, Packaging Innovation, and Manufacturing. Reporting directly to the VP Development & Operations, you will oversee the seamless integration of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and operational excellence to deliver sustainable, high-quality, and advanced packaging solutions. This leadership role will require a balance of strategic vision, technical expertise, and the ability to inspire cross-functional teams.

Innovation and Sustainability: Develop and implement sustainable packaging solutions that reflect Huda Beauty's mission and set industry benchmarks.

Operational Excellence: Streamline packaging, industrialization, and manufacturing processes to boost efficiency, cut lead times, and improve quality.

Team Empowerment: Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering creativity and technical excellence.

Strategic Alignment: Create packaging and manufacturing strategies to support global growth and ensure regulatory compliance.

Cost and Risk Optimization: Lead cost-saving and risk-mitigation initiatives while maintaining quality and brand standards.

Strategic Leadership

• Develop a forward-thinking strategy for packaging development, innovation, and manufacturing aligned with the brand's goals.
• Translate brand objectives into actionable plans, ensuring alignment across all packaging and manufacturing functions.
• Stay ahead of market trends, regulatory requirements, and consumer preferences to drive competitive advantage.

Technical Expertise in Packaging Engineering

• Master deep knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, glass, metals, paper/cardboard, biomaterials…) and their mechanical, chemical, and environmental properties.
• Oversee the application of manufacturing and transformation processes, including but not limited to glass manufacturing, injection molding, extrusion-blowing, thermoforming, and various printing techniques.
• Conduct compatibility and stability tests (formula/packaging) and ensure compliance with different norms (ISO, GMP, FDA…) and other regulatory standards.
• Utilize advanced CAD tools (SolidWorks, KeyShot, C4D…) and lead prototyping efforts using 3D printing, digital printing and other technologies.
• Supervise industrialization projects, validating production tooling and technical feasibility.
• Ensure effective scaling of packaging designs from concept to mass production by validating technical feasibility and production tooling.

Innovation and Sustainability

• Drive packaging innovation initiatives in collaboration with the Packaging Innovation team to integrate new technologies, materials, and sustainable practices (e.g., refillable, recyclable, or bio-sourced solutions).
• Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions that align with the brand's values and minimize environmental impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Industrialization Excellence

• Define and implement robust processes for the industrialization of new packaging designs, ensuring seamless transition from R&D to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to optimize production workflows, reduce lead times, and achieve cost-efficient scaling.
• Oversee industrial validation activities, including trial runs, process optimization, and first production approvals.
• Develop and monitor KPIs for industrialization, such as defect rates, efficiency rates, and production scalability metrics.

Manufacturing Excellence

• Oversee all manufacturing operations to ensure alignment with production timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.
• In collaboration with the QA/QC team, audit supplier facilities to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Anticipate and mitigate operational risks, ensuring continuity in the supply chain.

Team Leadership and Development

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.

Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Oversee the management of multiple complex projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and cross-functional alignment.
• Partner with key stakeholders, including R&D, marketing, supply chain, product development, and quality assurance teams, to ensure seamless integration of packaging and manufacturing solutions.

Quality and Compliance

• Collaborate with the QA/QC team to establish robust quality standards for packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure adherence to all regulatory, ethical sourcing, and environmental standards across global markets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in packaging development and manufacturing without compromising on quality or brand identity.
• Monitor budgets and expenses, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in packaging development, manufacturing, or a related field in the cosmetics or beauty industry.
• Proven expertise in packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and CAD/3D design tools.
• Strong leadership and people management experience, with a track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams.
• Deep understanding of industrialization practices, including production scaling and process validation.
• Deep knowledge of sustainability practices and emerging technologies in packaging.
• Experience in managing global operations and understanding regional regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
