As the Director of Risk Operations, you will be responsible for:

  1. Lead and manage a team of managers responsible for transaction monitoring operations, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
  2. Ensure high levels of service are provided to both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining and improving satisfaction and compliance standards.
  3. Develop, improve, and oversee transaction monitoring processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to regulatory requirements with an emphasis on high risk industries.
  4. Monitor and enhance the overall quality of work within the transaction monitoring unit, ensuring consistency and compliance with internal and external standards.
  5. Act as the primary escalation point for complex transaction monitoring issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  6. Guide your team to handle risk-related escalations by reviewing accounts and transactions to identify risky behaviors, including fraudulent activity, large credit exposure, and regulatory non-compliance.
  7. Drive decisions based on data, create and continuously enhance dashboards and alerts to monitor changing risks and suspicious behaviors.
  8. Represent the transaction monitoring department in relevant internal forums, advocating for compliance and risk needs and contributing to broader organizational discussions.
  9. Manage the unit's efficiency and ensure that goals and targets are met, aligning operations with strategic business objectives.
  10. Stay abreast of regulatory developments and ensure that the transaction monitoring program complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
  11. Prepare and present detailed reports on transaction monitoring activities to senior management.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field.
  2. At least 8 years experience in Transaction Monitoring.
  3. At least 5 years experience in managing managers.
  4. Previous experience in a fintech startup or a high-growth company.
  5. Previous experience working with high-risk clients is a plus.
  6. Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills – MUST.
  7. Great analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
  8. Great ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
  9. Willing to work flexible hours with different time zones.
  10. Self-motivated, fast learner, energetic, and driven individual with the ability to learn new skills and a can-do attitude.
  11. (CAMS) or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) is a plus.
