Roles and responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinaryteams to deliver hospital projects on time and withinbudget.
  • Develop and implement robust projectplans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Oversee MEPsystems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, andhospital-specific systems.
  • Ensure compliancewith healthcare authority regulations andstandards.
  • Conduct quality inspections, reviewdrawings, and manage risks proactively.
  • Fosterstrong client relationships by delivering exceptionalresults.

What We're LookingFor:

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relatedfield.
  • Experience:10-20 years in MEP project management with at least 2-3 hospitalprojects successfullydelivered.
  • Skills:Leadership, communication, presentation, and project managementexpertise (e.g., PrimaveraP6).
  • Knowledge:In-depth understanding of construction contracts, MEP systems, andhealthcare authorityrequirements.
  • Traits:Problem-solver, team motivator, and able to thrive underpressure.

  • . ProjectPlanning andCoordination:

  • ScopeDefinition: Defining the scope of MEP systems in aproject by collaborating with the client, architects, andengineers. This includes outlining the specific mechanical,electrical, and plumbing requirements for theproject.
  • Scheduling:Developing and managing detailed project schedules for MEP systeminstallation and coordination with other constructionactivities.
  • ResourceAllocation: Allocating the necessary resources,including labor, equipment, and materials, for MEP work andensuring their availabilityon-site.

  • 2. Design andTechnicalOversight:

  • DesignReview: Reviewing and approving MEP designs andblueprints to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations,and client requirements. This includes working closely with MEPengineers andconsultants.
  • Coordination withOther Disciplines: Ensuring proper coordinationbetween MEP systems and other parts of the construction project(e.g., structural and architectural elements) to avoid conflictsand ensure seamlessintegration.
  • Innovation and ValueEngineering: Offering suggestions for systemimprovements or cost-saving alternatives that do not compromisequality or performance.

  • 3.Procurement and ContractManagement:

  • VendorSelection: Overseeing the procurement of MEPmaterials, equipment, and subcontractors. This includes evaluatingbids and negotiatingcontracts.
  • ContractManagement: Managing contracts with subcontractorsand suppliers, ensuring that terms and deadlines are met. This alsoinvolves addressing any disputes or changes inscope.
  • Budgeting and CostControl: Developing and maintaining the MEP projectbudget, ensuring that costs are controlled, and managing changeorders effectively to avoid budgetoverruns.

  • 4.Construction Oversight andSupervision:

  • SiteManagement: Overseeing the MEP work on-site,ensuring that installations are being carried out according to theplans and specifications. This includes ensuring safety standardsare maintained and that work is completed ontime.
  • QualityControl: Implementing quality control processes toverify that all MEP installations meet the required standards andcodes. This includes inspections, testing, and commissioning ofsystems.
  • IssueResolution: Addressing any technical or operationalissues that arise during the MEP installation process, working withengineers and contractors to resolve problemsefficiently.

  • 5. Health,Safety, andCompliance:

  • SafetyStandards: Ensuring that all MEP work is carried outin compliance with health and safety regulations. This includesconducting regular safety inspections and providing safety trainingfor workers.
  • CodeCompliance: Ensuring that all MEP systems complywith local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.This may involve coordinating with local authorities forinspections and approvals.

  • TechnicalKnowledge:

    • In-depthunderstanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems andtheir integration into buildingprojects.
    • Familiarity with industry standards,codes, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, local buildingcodes).

  • ProjectManagement:

    • Strongproject management skills, including scheduling, budgeting,resource allocation, and riskmanagement.
    • Proficiency with project managementsoftware (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6,Procore).

  • Leadershipand TeamManagement:

    • Ability tolead, motivate, and manage multidisciplinary teams, ensuringcoordination and efficient workflow.
    • Conflictresolution and decision-making skills to address challenges anddisputes amongstakeholders.

  • CommunicationSkills:

    • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills to interact with clients,contractors, engineers, and other projectstakeholders.
    • Ability to present complextechnical information in an understandablemanner.

  • Problem-Solving:

    • Stronganalytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues thatmay arise during the design, installation, or commissioning of MEPsystems.

  • NegotiationSkills:

    • Negotiatingcontracts, changes in scope, and disputes with clients, suppliers,andsubcontractors.

  • Attentionto Detail:

    • Carefulattention to detail in reviewing designs, contracts, andconstruction work to ensure high-quality standards aremaintained.

  • Healthand SafetyAwareness:

    • Knowledge ofhealth, safety, and environmental regulations and the ability toenforce these standards onsite.
