Roles and responsibilities

Your responsibilities are:

  • Perform all phases of the designprocess including Concept, Schematic and Detailed DesignDocumentation, writing specification, report, 3D modeling,submittals & permitting, hardscape and plant materialselection.
  • Deliver entire technical landscapepackages independently with review from seniorteam.
  • Organization of project materials& information according to DesignProcess.
  • Coordinate with all fields andsub-consultants.
  • Connect with highly effectivequestions and problem-solving skills.
  • Manages,coordinates, and leads landscape design projects independently withless oversight.
  • Participate in Technical Designworkshops / Design charettes.
  • Leads the inproduction of project design reports andDetailing.
  • Provide landscape design solutionsfrom Concept to DD.
  • Must have worked /completed Landscape projects usingRevit.
  • Understands all applicable UAEauthorities' requirements and coordinates with variousfield's technical inputs into aproject.
  • Coordinating with design Engineers forresolution of related issues.

About you:

  • Bachelor's ormaster's degree in the area ofexpertise.
  • Registered professional membershipis preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience inUAE and the Gulf region.
  • Proficiency in thefollowing programs is a must: AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Sketch-up(or similar 3D programs), In-Design, Illustrator, Excel, and otherMS Office programs.
  • Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills.
  • Ability to beorganized, proactive, and prioritize multiple tasks bothindependently and with the team.
  • Aware of theUAE public realm guidelines generally and International standardmethodologies of Landscape Architecture.

  • CreativeVision: Ability to develop innovative andaesthetically pleasing designs for outdoor spaces that meetfunctional, ecological, and culturalneeds.
  • ConceptualDesign: Proficiency in conceptualizing and sketchingdesign ideas, including layout, planting schemes, hardscaping, andwater features.
  • MasterPlanning: Developing large-scale, integrated siteplans that address all aspects of landscape design, includingcirculation, planting, stormwater management, and spatialorganization.
  • Sustainability:Knowledge of sustainable design practices, such as using nativeplants, water-efficient systems, and designing for climateresilience.

2.TechnicalSkills

  • SiteAnalysis and Assessment: Ability to evaluate siteconditions, including topography, climate, soil, vegetation, andhuman use, and incorporate these into designdecisions.
  • AutoCAD and DesignSoftware: Proficiency in industry-standard softwaresuch as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or GIS for drafting,modeling, and visualizingdesigns.
  • 3D Visualization andRendering: Skills in creating 3D models andrenderings using software like Lumion, V-Ray, or Adobe CreativeSuite to present designconcepts.
  • Landscape ConstructionDocumentation: Ability to produce detailedconstruction drawings, specifications, and documentation forlandscape installation.

3.Environmental and EcologicalKnowledge

  • EnvironmentalDesign: Understanding of how to design spaces thatrespect and enhance the natural environment, promotingbiodiversity, reducing environmental impact, and improvingecosystem services.
  • StormwaterManagement: Experience in designing sustainablestormwater management solutions, such as bioswales, rain gardens,and permeable paving.
  • EcologicalRestoration: Knowledge of ecological restorationtechniques for rehabilitating damaged landscapes or creatinghabitats for wildlife.
  • ClimateAdaptation: Designing for climate change adaptation,including heat island reduction, flood risk management, andchoosing appropriate materials for changing environmentalconditions.

4. ProjectManagement

  • Leadershipand Team Collaboration: Leading and mentoring juniorlandscape architects and supporting cross-disciplinary teams,including architects, engineers, and urbanplanners.
  • BudgetManagement: Ability to manage project budgetseffectively, ensuring that designs are both feasible andcost-efficient.
  • TimelineManagement: Coordinating project schedules to ensuretimely delivery of projects, meeting deadlines while adhering toquality standards.
  • ClientManagement: Interfacing with clients to understandtheir needs, communicate design intent, and present ideas clearlyand persuasively.

5.RegulatoryKnowledge

  • Zoningand Permitting: Familiarity with local zoning laws,land use regulations, environmental laws, and permittingprocesses.
  • AccessibilityStandards: Understanding of accessibility codes(e.g., ADA guidelines) and ensuring that landscapes are accessibleto all users.
  • Health and SafetyRegulations: Knowledge of safety standards forpublic spaces and ensuring designs meet safetyrequirements.

6.Communication and PresentationSkills

  • ClientPresentations: Ability to present design proposalsclearly and confidently to clients, stakeholders, or public forums,using visual aids such as renderings, models, and siteplans.
  • PublicEngagement: Facilitating public consultations andengaging with communities to ensure that design decisions reflectpublic input and meet socialneeds.
  • ReportWriting: Ability to prepare reports, includingdesign briefs, environmental impact assessments, and projectprogress reports, in clear and conciselanguage.
