  • Work closely with locationmanagement, Human Resources, and employees to cultivate, promote,and continually improve Tsubaki's safety culture. Developsa culture that identifies EHS opportunities and documents those fortrends and predictive analysis.
  • Provide EHSleadership and direction across all locations. Advises managementon ways to mitigate EHS risks and continuously improveprograms.
  • Develop, maintain, and implementTsubaki's EHS policies and procedures for all employees andoutside contractors' services.
  • Directsand leads the company's internal and external safety auditprograms. Conducts safety audits. Performs risk hazard analysis,determinations effective controls, and riskmitigation.
  • Provide comprehensiveadministrative and organizational support for the entire EHSprogram. Promote, develop, and establish EHS programs, policies,and procedures that are related to the EHS program and providetraining as necessary for all employees.
  • Ensurecompliance with all regulatory agencies on a local, state, andfederal level. Manage and control all the company's EHSregulatory reporting requirements, ensuring submission by requireddates and maintain on file as required.
  • Managethe company's Environmental Management System (EMS) toensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and conformance toISO standards.
  • Provide support and training asneeded for all employees as it relates to EHS atlocations.
  • Leads safety incident investigationteams to determine root cause and corrective and preventiveactions. Develop and implement corrective actions asappropriate.
  • Support and respond to EHS-relatedrequests from customers and parent company inJapan.
  • Establishes and manages ergonomic,injury case management, and return to workprograms.
  • Maintain and improve the overallfacility security program to provide a safe workplace for allemployees and control vendors and contractors as they perform theirservices.
  • Manages all resources in a harmoniousmanner that promotes and cultivates an atmosphere that emphasizesteamwork, respect, accountability, and a desire to improve allSafety, Quality, Delivery and Costobjectives.
  • Responsible for managing all EHSTeam members including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, andtraining staff in the department. Provides constructive and timelyperformance evaluations and feedback. Develops, fosters, andleads/mentors team to achieve significant results and developfuture leaders/managers.
  • Oversees the dailyworkflow of the department and collaborates with other managers andleadership to set and assess priorities acrossteams.
  • Ensures compliance and consistency withall plant/facility rules, regulations, and Collective BargainingAgreements. Supports a system of progressive discipline anddevelops consistency among supervisory ranks. Works to develop aprogressive approach to union-relatedissues.
  • Exhibits the characteristics of adetermined, results-oriented, persuasive, and strongcommunicator/leader.
  • Fully understands personalaccountability and responsibility and holds own self to thatstandard.
  • Position has both responsibility andaccountability for individually assigned projects, assignments, aswell as ability to lead team projects and assignments (workingmanager).
  • It is the expectation of the companythat Managers/Supervisors will accomplish these goals by working toa high ethical standard and consistently complying with all companypolicies, work rules, Collective Bargaining Agreements, andapplicable laws with little to no directsupervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthand Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, IndustrialHygiene or related field required. Advanced degree.
  • At least 7 years of occupational health andsafety experience in a construction or manufacturingenvironment.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHARegulations and general industrystandards.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate and currentannual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher
  • CPR / FirstAid certification or willingness toobtain.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge ofMicrosoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint andExcel).
  • Familiarity with safety managementsoftware.
  • Work independently and can multi-taskand prioritize work based on deadlines.
  • Handlesconfidential information discreetly.
  • Highlydetail oriented.
  • Excellent communication andpresentation skills.
  • Excellent organizationaland record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to implementbehavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safetyperformance.
  • Required to Travel 50% to 75%domestically.
