The General Technician will assistthe Shift Supervisor to manage the shift operations. He or she isresponsible for the upkeep of the hotel or business office and toto complete maintenance work orders from all departments on atimely basis by following hotels standard operating proceduressince he/she is a skilled in a variety of areas including plumbing,carpentry, and electrical systems. He/She will continually worktowards and support the improvement of engineering services toguests, other departments, and fellowstaffs.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Performing routine inspections andpreventive maintenance of hotel systems and equipment such as HVAC,plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure they are ingood working order.
  • Responding promptly tomaintenance requests from guests and staff, and effectivelydiagnosing and repairing issues such as leaks, broken fixtures,malfunctioning appliances, etc.
  • Ensuring thatall maintenance work complies with safety standards andregulations. This includes fire safety, health and safety codes,and any relevant building codes.
  • Monitoring andmaintaining inventory levels of parts, tools, and suppliesnecessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting withrenovation and construction projects as needed, including basiccarpentry, painting, and other tasks to support the upkeep andimprovement of the hotel.
  • Being available foron-call duty and responding to emergency maintenance situationsoutside of regular working hours, such as power outages or severeweather incidents.
  • Keeping accurate records ofmaintenance and repair activities, including maintenance logs, workorders, and equipment service history.

Qualifications AndRequirements

  • A formal qualification inmechanical/electrical engineering
  • Minimum 2years’ experience working in a luxury hotelenvironment.
  • Hotel Pre-opening experience orrenovation experience is an advantage.
  • Provenexperience as General Technician for 2years.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance andrepair of wastewater treatment, plant equipment or other relatedcommercial equipment is highly desirable
  • Ableto read blueprints or cad drawings
  • Have strongknowledge of technical aspects in mechanical, electrical, plumbingetc.

Desiredcandidate profile

  • General Maintenance andRepairs:

    • Performroutine and emergency maintenance and repair tasks in guest rooms,public areas, and otherfacilities.
    • Troubleshoot and fix issues relatedto plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, HVAC, and appliances(such as refrigerators, microwaves, washers,etc.).
    • Repair or replace faulty equipment,fixtures, or furniture within the property, ensuring that allsystems are functioning efficiently.
    • Respond tomaintenance requests from staff and guests in a timelymanner.

  • PreventiveMaintenance:

    • Carry outregular inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment andsystems to avoid future issues. This includes checking thecondition of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, andplumbing.
    • Ensure that all systems, includingair conditioning, heating, and refrigeration, are working optimallyand efficiently.
    • Perform routine testing,cleaning, and maintenance of fire safety equipment, including fireextinguishers, smoke alarms, and sprinklersystems.
    • Monitor the building’sinfrastructure and make recommendations for upgrades or repairs toenhance safety andfunctionality.

  • Troubleshootingand ProblemSolving:

    • Quicklydiagnose and identify technical problems related to electrical,plumbing, or mechanical issues and take correctiveactions.
    • Respond to and resolve maintenanceemergencies, such as power outages, water leaks, or equipmentbreakdowns.
    • Use diagnostic tools, equipmentmanuals, and technical knowledge to troubleshoot systems andequipment.

  • Collaborationwith OtherDepartments:

    • Workclosely with housekeeping, front desk, and other operational teamsto prioritize and address maintenance requests. This could involvepreparing guest rooms, conference rooms, or public spaces forevents.
    • Assist with the setup and maintenanceof event equipment (e.g., AV systems, lighting) in function spacesor meeting rooms.
    • Ensure that guest areas andback-of-house spaces are functioning properly, from lighting towatertemperature.

  • Buildingand EquipmentUpkeep:

    • Perform dailychecks and maintenance of building systems, including elevators,plumbing, lighting, and ventilation.
    • Regularlyinspect and maintain mechanical rooms, electrical panels, and otheressential systems.
    • Manage maintenance andrepairs of key hotel systems, such as heating, ventilation, airconditioning (HVAC), and plumbing, to ensure the comfort and safetyof guests andstaff.
