Roles and responsibilities

This role requires a deepunderstanding of ride facility design, procurement processes, andeffective interfacing with a diverse team of designers, engineers,and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leaderwith strong design management skills and a comprehensiveunderstanding of the technical and creative aspects of ridefacility development. The Design Manager for Rides and RideFacility Design will oversee the development and execution ofdesign projects related to amusement rides and associatedfacilities. This role demands a blend of creative vision, technicalexpertise, and leadership skills to guide a multidisciplinary teamthrough the design process, from concept through completionalongside ride vendors. The ideal candidate will have a strongbackground in ride design, facility planning, and teammanagement.

KeyResponsibilities

Design& Project Management:

  • Lead and manage ride design projects,ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to thehighest quality standards.
  • Develop detailedproject plans, including timelines, milestones, resourceallocation, and risk managementstrategies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functionalteams to integrate ride designs with facility layouts andoperational requirements.

Design And TechnicalOversight

  • Oversee the design process for rides,ensuring alignment with client specifications, safety regulations,and industry standards.
  • Work closely with ridedesigners to refine design and address technical challenges,ensuring the ride facility design meets both aesthetic andfunctional goals.
  • Supervise the development andprocurement of ride components, managing relationships withsuppliers and vendors.

InterfaceCoordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contactbetween the design team, engineers, and other stakeholders,facilitating effective communication andcollaboration.
  • Ensure that ride interfaces withother systems, such as lighting, sound, and control systems, areintegrated smoothly and functionally.
  • Managethe interface between ride design and facility infrastructure,ensuring compatibility and seamlessintegration.

Procurement And VendorManagement

  • Oversee the procurement process forride equipment and materials, including vendor selection, contractnegotiation, and quality assurance.
  • Collaboratewith procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of components andresolve any supply chain issues that may arise.

Quality Assurance AndSafety

  • Conduct regular reviews andinspections of design and construction work to ensure compliancewith safety standards and designspecifications.
  • Address and resolve any designor construction issues promptly, implementing corrective actions asnecessary.

StakeholderCommunication

  • Prepare and present project updates,design concepts, and progress reports to stakeholders, clients, andsenior management.
  • Manage client expectationsand ensure their requirements are met throughout the projectlifecycle.

ProblemSolving

  • Proactively identify potential issuesand risks, developing and implementing solutions to address themeffectively.
  • Facilitate problem-solvingsessions with design and engineering teams to overcome technicaland operational challenges

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Industrial Design, Architecture,Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7years of experience in ride design and/or ride facility design,with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadershiprole.
  • Proven track record of successful rideand facility design projects, demonstrating creativity, technicalexpertise, and project managementskills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards,regulations, and industry practices related to ride and facilitydesign.
  • Proficiency in design software such asRevit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similartools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation,and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projectssimultaneously and work effectively under tightdeadlines.
  • Passion for theme parks,entertainment, and creating exceptional guestexperiences.
  • Experience with large-scale themepark or attraction projects.
  • Familiarity with3D modelling and visualization software. Understanding ofsustainable design practices and green buildingstandards.
  • Excellent communication,presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact withclients, multi-disciplinary teams, ride vendors and supplychain.
  • In-depth knowledge of ride systems,mechanisms, and safety standards within the amusement parkindustry.
  • Understanding of design principles,engineering processes, and project managementmethodologies.
