Job Title: Commodity Trader- Shipping
Reports to: Managing Director

An established 3rd generation multinational shipping family, which expanded into cargo operation/chartering in 2011 and has offices in Greece, Argentina, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong, is looking to hire an experienced commodity trader to be based in the newly opened office in Dubai.

Summary of the Role:

  1. To buy and sell commodities (mainly grain feeds such as corn and soya, and a few quantities of feed oil) from customers through the company's trading department.
  2. To place the traded products with established first-class buyers.
  3. Actively make bids to buy and sell commodities on behalf of the clients.
  4. Advise clients on investment options and market trends.
  5. Provide research-based recommendations to the clients.
  6. Build rapport with clients and maintain good relationships with them.
  7. Acquire new customers and service existing relationships to achieve set targets.
  8. Responsible for revenue generation as per company benchmarks.
  9. Add value to the client and stay ahead of the competition by structuring and implementing innovative deals.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Commodity Trader within the shipping industry.
  • Sound knowledge of cargo back-to-back facilitating/arranging trade between the shipper and the receiver.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, agriculture, banking, or other social sciences.
  • Willing to be based in Dubai, UAE.

In addition, as this would be the family's first foray into trading, strong management and organizational skills are required to establish the new Middle Eastern market and to develop and manage the commodities trading portfolio in the region.
