Roles and responsibilities
  • As an AC Technician youare responsible to install, service and repair temperature and airquality control systems and your role will include keyresponsibilities such as:
  • Repair, maintain andprovide technical attention to all electrical and mechanicalrefrigeration systems of the hotel - freezer, fridges, ice makers,fan coil units, chiller, etc.
  • Maintainpreventively all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems withinthe hotel
  • Check on performance of refrigerationsystems and components
  • Verify all door closingsystems on walk in coolers / freezer (door gaskets /latches)
  • Check and maintain all defrostingsystems and automation of ice makers
  • Work onmaintenance requests from alldepartments
  • Ensure routine cleaning of fan coilunits and air-handling unit filters
  • Check onperformance of air-conditioning and chill watersystems
  • Cooperate with all engineeringcolleagues in detention of failures of air-condition andrefrigeration system and function set up
  • Strictcontrol on venting of CFC’s toatmosphere
  • Overhauling of air-condition /refrigeration equipment and systems
  • Check allrefrigeration and oil levels and control of majorrepairs
  • Cooperate and inform EngineeringStorekeeper on purchase of parts
  • Carry out allworks as per the country technical regulations and safetystandards

Qualifications

  • Must have the appropriate documentedtraining from a technical/vocationalinstitute.
  • One year operating experience in ahotel engineering department.
  • Must be able toread and interpret blueprints and electricalschematics.

Desired candidate profile

. Technical Expertise in HVACSystems

  • Comprehensiveknowledge of various air conditioning systems (e.g., central air,split units, ductless, window units, and refrigerationsystems).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnosefaults in complex HVAC systems, including mechanical and electricalcomponents (compressors, condensers,evaporators).
  • Understanding of refrigerationcycles and components like refrigerants, pressure systems, andthermostats.

2.Problem-Solving andTroubleshooting

  • Strongability to identify and resolve issues, such as poor airflow,temperature inconsistencies, refrigerant leaks, or electricalmalfunctions.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools,such as pressure gauges, multimeters, refrigerant leak detectors,and manometers, to find the root causes ofproblems.
  • Knowledge of how to recalibrate orreset HVAC systems to ensure optimalperformance.

3.Installation and RepairSkills

  • Expertise ininstalling air conditioning systems, including mounting units,connecting refrigerants, and ensuring systems are properly sealedand ventilated.
  • Ability to repair or replacefaulty components, including motors, fans, compressors, orthermostats, in a safe and efficientmanner.
  • Knowledge of proper wiring andelectrical work for connecting HVAC systems to electricalcircuits.

4.Familiarity with SafetyProtocols

  • Understandingof safety guidelines when working with hazardous materials, such asrefrigerants and high-voltage electricalsystems.
  • Adherence to local building codes,safety standards, and environmental regulations, especiallyregarding refrigerant handling anddisposal.
  • Knowledge of using personalprotective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and respiratorsto ensure safe workpractices.

5. CustomerService andCommunication

  • Stronginterpersonal skills to communicate effectively with customers,explain issues, and recommend appropriatesolutions.
  • Ability to provide advice on propersystem maintenance to extend the life of HVAC units and improveenergy efficiency.
  • Handling customer concernsor complaints professionally and ensuring high satisfaction withservices provided.

6.Attention to Detail andPrecision

  • Precision inmeasuring and assessing the proper functionality of HVAC systems toensure they are operating at peak efficiency.
  • Afocus on inspecting air ducts, air filters, refrigerant levels, andcondenser coils to identify potential issues before theyworsen.
  • Keeping accurate records of work done,parts replaced, and materials used for future reference or warrantypurposes.
