Performs various responsibilities for aspecific technical group or department. 
Hasfull responsibility for interpreting organizing executing andcoordinating technical assignments. 
Generallyrequires multidisciplinary knowledge ofengineering. 
Plans and develops engineeringtasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. Thisinvolves exploration of subject area definition of scope andselection of problems for investigation and development of novelconcepts and approaches.
Maintains liaison with unitswithin the organization and individuals inside and outside of theorganization. 
Responsible for actingindependently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work atthis level usually requires extensive progressiveexperience. 
Works under minimal supervision.Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignmentsgiven in terms of broad general objectives andlimits. 
Supervises group of engineers and/ortechnicians coordinating activities of theunit.

Overview

TheTeam Leader Geotechnical is a senior technical resource that servesas the technical advisor for the team and runs the teamoperationally. Plans works provides technical reviews and qualitymanagement.  Shares technical expertise and experiencewith others in the company via internal technical communication andpresentations.  Responsible for the development ofhighquality design outputs.  Able to do handsondesign.

Role

General

TechnicalDelivery Management:
May act as a line managerand should be able to mentor monitor timekeeping and carry outperformance reviews providing feedback on allocated technicalstaff.  Plays an active role in the technical developmentof the allocated team.  Acts in a supporting role to theTeam Leader/ Manager/ Associate Director /Director by delegatingwork and directing less experienced staff to complete assignedprojects technical tasks.  Able to monitor and track thebudget for specific tasks within theproject.
TechnicalExcellence:
Prepares technical specificationsections and completes feasibility studies and is able to add inputand value to designs. Performs quality control reviews of designcalculations and drawings following policies and procedures andserves as Lead Verifier confirming that the technical approachsatisfies the client scope of services and expectations. Providesspecialised input to studies and design within their specific areaof expertise. Contributes as an inhouse expert on specifictechnologies or processes. Develops solutions to complex andchallenging issues using engineering methodologies to define newprocedures when needed. Independently evaluates selects and appliesstandard industry techniques to execute work assignments.Identifies and develops new processes that lead to improvedefficiency or work quality. Engages with project technical teamswithin a field of expertise to confirm project approach and reviewdeliverables within budget and scope. Liaises with authorities toobtain permits and approvals and to discuss technicaladvances.  Resolves technical issues concerningconflicting requirements or complex coordination. Developsconstruction cost estimates and estimates of technicaleffort/manhours for projects. Should support the design team withdesign tasks and able to do handson design when required. Supportsthe design team on technically complex and challenging projects andbrings innovation into the design.
ProjectManagement:
May be required to act as ProjectManager on small to medium size disciplinespecificprojects.  Has an excellent understanding of projectdelivery requirements and is well versed with AECOMs projectdelivery procedures. Should be well versed in the use of EarnedValue Management to assess the progress of design againstbudget.
Client RelationshipManagement:
Supports business development andselling initiatives to expand work assignments including managingclient relationships and expectations. Assists with proposals andparticipates in the development of bids and technical writeup forproposals. Leads communication with clients to discuss work scoperequests information to support project execution and receivesclient comments on draft work products. Presents to clients seniorleadership and other project stakeholders to demonstrate progressand clearly explains designprinciples.
InterdisciplinaryCoordination: 
Responsible tocoordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no designgaps and  provide fully coordinated design deliverables.This includes the support of the construction supervisionteams.

Experience

Generally15 years minimum experience but allowance would be given for theMasters and PhD qualified people and for the rightcandidate.

• Bachelor ofScience or Engineering from an accredited University in one or moreof the following subjects and a Master of Science / Engineering orPhD would bepreferred.
