Roles and responsibilities
  • Put health &safety best practices first in all work carried out ensuringcompliance with all health & safety standards andregulations.
  • Carry out planned preventativemaintenance on the full range of equipment within thesite.
  • React quickly to breakdowns, communicateclearly with affected parties and work efficiently to fix theissue.
  • Support continuous improvement bylearning from breakdowns and sending feedback and suggestions forimprovements through the line manager.
  • Providehigh levels of equipment availability to our internalcustomers.
  • Support and learn from SeniorReliability Engineering Technicians.

BasicQualifications

  • Multi skilled in either electrical ormechanical disciplines.
  • Experience of plannedpreventative maintenance systems.
  • Experiencefault finding within MHE (Material Handling Equipment)/Automationsystems.
  • Experience in interpreting eithermechanical or electrical drawings.
  • Experienceof conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters.

PreferredQualifications

  • Experience of high voltageswitching.
  • Experience of sortationmachines.
  • Experience of maintaining/configuringbar code scanners.
  • Experience of print andapply machines.
  • Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND,BSc, BEng

  • . Building andEquipmentMaintenance

  • Strongknowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing,security, etc.) and how to manage their maintenance andrepair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues withequipment, HVAC systems, and other facilities-relatedconcerns.
  • Familiarity with maintenancemanagement software for tracking service requests, schedulingmaintenance, and managing workorders.

  • 2. Leadershipand TeamManagement

  • Leadershipskills to manage and supervise a team of maintenance staff,janitors, and contractors.
  • Ability to delegatetasks, provide direction, and motivate team members to completetasks efficiently and to a highstandard.
  • Experience in scheduling andoverseeing work assignments for the facilities team to ensuresmooth operations.

  • 3.Health and SafetyCompliance

  • Knowledgeof health, safety, and environmental regulations related tofacility management, including OSHAguidelines.
  • Ability to ensure that facilitiescomply with safety protocols, fire codes, and environmentalregulations.
  • Experience in conducting regularsafety inspections and implementing corrective actions whennecessary.

  • 4. ProjectManagement

  • Skills inoverseeing facility improvement projects, from planning andbudgeting to execution and evaluation.
  • Abilityto manage vendor relationships, including negotiating contracts,managing costs, and ensuring servicedelivery.
  • Experience in coordinating upgrades,repairs, and renovations to improve facilities or addressmaintenance issues.

  • 5.Budgeting and CostManagement

  • Strongfinancial skills to create and manage a facility maintenancebudget.
  • Ability to reduce costs withoutcompromising on safety or the quality ofservices.
  • Experience in assessing, negotiating,and managing service contracts and supplierrelationships.

  • Abilityto identify facility-related issues and resolve them in a timelymanner to minimize disruption.
  • Criticalthinking skills to evaluate problems and determine the mostefficient and cost-effectivesolutions.
  • Experience in managing emergencymaintenance and ensuring businesscontinuity.

    • Supervise a teamof maintenance personnel, custodians, andvendors.
    • Assign and review tasks, ensureadherence to schedules, and monitor performance to maintain highstandards.
    • Provide training and support forstaff on safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and equipmentuse.

  • Healthand SafetyCompliance:

    • Ensure thatall safety regulations are met, including fire safety, emergencyexits, and proper signage.
    • Conduct regularsafety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implementcorrective actions.
    • Respond to emergencysituations (e.g., power outages, floods, fires) to minimizefacilitydisruptions.

  • ProjectManagement:

    • Coordinaterenovation, repair, and upgrade projects to improve buildingefficiency or meet tenant/employeeneeds.
    • Ensure that construction or renovationprojects are completed on time, within budget, and according tosafety standards.
    • Liaise with contractors,architects, and engineers during major projects to ensure alignmentwith organizationalneeds.

  • Vendorand SupplierManagement:

    • Managerelationships with external vendors, including those providingcleaning, security, landscaping, and repairservices.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure thatvendor performance meets agreed-uponstandards.
    • Review and approve invoices andmonitor vendor expenses to stay within the facility'sbudget.

  • Budgetingand FinancialManagement:

    • Prepare andmanage the facilities budget, tracking expenses related tomaintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
    • Ensurecost-effective purchasing of supplies andequipment.
    • Manage expenditures for unexpectedrepairs or upgrades while maintaining costefficiency.

  • EmergencyResponse and ContingencyPlanning:

    • Develop andimplement emergency response plans, including procedures fornatural disasters, power outages, and othercrises.
    • Ensure that all staff are trained onemergency procedures and that facilities are equipped withnecessary emergency supplies.
    • Respond toemergency situations swiftly and coordinate with emergency serviceswhennecessary.
