  • Experience in teachinginformation systems courses and, in particular, courses relating toe-Health and Telemedicine, Enterprise Systems, IT ProjectManagement, and IT Resource Management .   • The candidate must have a strongresearch background.
  • Only candidates who hold aPh.D. in Information Systems will be considered.

Core Duties AndResponsibilities

The selectedapplicant will be expected to:

  • Develop and teach undergraduatecourses in Information Systems
  • Engage ininnovative and technology-based approaches to learning andteaching
  • Publish high-quality research inleading internationally recognizedjournals
  • Participate in committees at thedepartmental, college and/or university levels asassigned
  • Actively engage in promoting thegrowth of the Ajman University
  • Ability toprovide consultancy service to researchers and the businesscommunity.

Desired candidate profile

1. Teaching andInstruction

  • CourseDevelopment and Delivery: Designing and deliveringcourses on topics such as database management, information systemsdesign, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, business analytics, datamanagement, system integration, and IT governance. These coursesmay be offered at the undergraduate, graduate, or executiveeducation levels.
  • Lectures andSeminars: Providing lectures, seminars, anddiscussions on Information Systems theory, practices, andtechnologies. This includes teaching both technical andbusiness-oriented aspects of thefield.
  • Hands-on Training and LabSupervision: Supervising students in labs andproject-based courses where they apply IS principles in real-worldcontexts, such as working with databases, coding, or designing ITsolutions.
  • Advising andMentoring: Advising and mentoring students onacademic, career, and research topics. This may include advisingstudents on their academic trajectory, research projects,internships, and post-graduation employmentopportunities.
  • Assessments andFeedback: Developing assignments, exams, and otherassessments to evaluate students' grasp of coursematerial. Providing timely and constructive feedback to students tosupport their learning.

2.Research and ScholarlyActivity

  • ConductingResearch: Engaging in original research within theInformation Systems field. Research topics may include but are notlimited to business analytics, artificial intelligence ininformation systems, IT infrastructure, e-commerce, digitaltransformation, systems analysis and design, and ITstrategy.
  • PublishingResearch: Writing and publishing research papers inpeer-reviewed journals, presenting research findings at academicconferences, and contributing to the knowledge base of theInformation Systemsfield.
  • CollaborativeResearch: Collaborating with other academicinstitutions, industries, or governmental organizations oninterdisciplinary or applied research projects. This could involveworking on projects related to improving business processes,developing new technologies, or understanding the social impact ofInformation Systems.
  • ResearchFunding: Writing grant proposals and securingfunding for research projects. This may involve collaborating withresearch teams or pursuing industry-sponsored researchpartnerships.
  • SupervisingGraduate Research: Mentoring and supervisinggraduate students (Masters/Ph.D.) on their thesis or dissertationresearch projects. This includes guiding students through researchdesign, data collection, analysis, andpublication.

3. Serviceto the Institution andCommunity

  • AcademicService: Serving on various committees within thedepartment or university. These may include curriculum developmentcommittees, faculty hiring committees, or accreditationbodies.
  • CommunityOutreach: Engaging with the broader academic orprofessional community by organizing workshops, webinars, or publicoutreach activities that promote Information Systems literacy andadvancements.
  • IndustryCollaboration: Developing partnerships withbusinesses or government organizations to promote applied research,internships, and collaborative projects between students, faculty,and industry.
  • ProfessionalEngagement: Participating in professionalorganizations like the Association for InformationSystems (AIS), IEEE ComputerSociety, or similar entities. Attending andcontributing to conferences, serving as a reviewer for journals, ortaking leadership roles in academicsocieties.
