Roles and responsibilities

To assist the Store Manager to drivesales by managing the smooth functioning of the store and controlthe store team to ensure all work / policies & proceduresare carried out within the remit of 'Store dailyoperations' (sales; merchandising standards, customerservice; store finance; store HR, store logistics; health &safety and security). Achieve the most profitable operation;establish a high level of customer service, effective management ofbudgeted resources to achieve the agreed commercial and financialstore objectives.

What You WillDo

Customer Service:

  • Has a REAL customer focus establishes& communicates customer goals and targets while ensuringthe highest quality service and results for customers, articulatesa strong understanding of customers' needs and doessignificantly more than required. Acts as a role model for allemployees by focusing business strategy on providing exceptionalservice and improving customer satisfaction. Ensures that allelements of 'Customer Service' are at theforefront of store team and constantly strives toimprove.

Store standards& Displays:

  • Ensurethat all implementation at store level is completed to agreed highstandards, whatever the subject matter and that escalation channelsare in place and are understood by all store teams. Develops andexecutes all aspects of 'retail basics',including on-shelf availability; clear shelf edge pricing; overallstore standards; exceptional customer service together withoutstanding "queuemanagement".
  • Along with the RegionalVisual Manager will be responsible for ensuring eye catching;effective displays are maintained within the Store. All newpromotional activity requiring changes to display should becarefully planned and coordinated to ensure minimum amount ofdisruption. Must always maintain the brand integrity throughcorporate display standards and is responsible for ensuring thedisplay reflects and supports the product suitability for thepromotional calendar

Stock Availability:

  • To ensure the availability andsecurity of stock in the store through the implementation of agreeddelivery plans and by following company procedures relating tostock movement. To liaise with the buyers / Operations Managerregarding product variety / quality and ordering levels providingfeedback where necessary. Ensures the proper in-store control ofstocks through liaising with the help desk and Inventory team tomeet the demands and requirements of the business and customers.Minimise missed opportunities.

Deployment of Resources andAdministration:

  • Requiredto oversee the deployment of resources and to constantly challengehis team to utilise all resources to the maximum effectiveness.Improve operational cost effectiveness by ensuring the bestdeployment of material, financial and human resources and bycommunicating with subordinates for clear understanding ofaccountabilities, objectives / targets, and measures. Manages theannual sales, headcount, and expenses to ensure the storeperformance is within approved budgets.

Human ResourceManagement:

  • With theassistance of the HRBP the Job holder will fulfil recruitmentfunction where required, To ensure that all employees are fullytrained and developed to a required standard to ensure effectivestaffing and levels of internal and external customer service areachieved. Identify candidates with career growth potential and willinitiate advancement for those candidates through the correctchannels. Is the leader in establishing an environment whereeffective teamwork is considered a normal part of the dailyroutine, where respect and co-operation are achieved. Promoteeffective management – by sound personal guidance andadvice to subordinates. Motivates subordinates to the highest levelof achievement by sound leadership and example. Uphold and improvethe quality and continuity of company employees by ensuring thesound recruitment training and development of subordinates with thehelp of the HRBP. Responsible for 'PeopleDevelopment' and succession planning with a specialemphasis on the development of Assistant store managers andSSA's.
Desired candidate profile
  • Through delegation and supervision, the Jobholder is ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with thecompany policies and procedures. The Job holder will be responsiblefor ensuring his teams develop self-checking as a normal part oftheir daily routine. Fulfil the company objectives through themonthly review of performance against plan, by prompt action toresolve variances.
  • Ensure the effectiveimplementation of Group & Business Administrative policyand procedures, in collaboration with the Regional Admin &Compliance Manager and maintain high operational store standards,processes and systems in accordance with the approved Group andbrand policies. Ensure that proper management of all storefunctions are maintained & implemented, which willcontribute to the efficient and coordinated operation of the storeas a whole. (Includes compliance with allSOP's).
  • Conducts the stock count asper the defined process in the store and in conjunction withRegional Admin & Compliance Manager and develop stock lossaction plans
  • Continuous review ofcosts/expenses of store consumables/stationeries etc. to ensurethey are in-line with the budgetparameters.
  • Review and respond on internalstore Audit reports and implement necessary corrective actionrequired
  • To ensure all safety and securitystandards are met to minimize accidents and loss for thecompany.

Cooperation andTeamwork:

  • Works closelywith the Regional Team to ensure the optimal range presentation isavailable in store.
  • Plays a vital role inco-ordinating, with the Logistics Manager all activities associatedwith store and customer deliveries.
  • Workclosely with the Inventory team to make ensure the autoreplenishment is working, and regularly review for any issues withstocks not getting replenished by the system in order to achievethe target availability of the top lines in stores.
