About the Role
- The Global Pathways Centre (GPC) in the Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities hosts the International Year Zero (IYZ) Foundation Programme, a specialized pathway designed to prepare students for their chosen degree programs. The GPC offers a comprehensive curriculum aimed at developing students' essential skills and knowledge to enhance their employability.
- The IYZ programme provides a dynamic curriculum to ready students for higher education learning, facilitating their progression to degree programs. The curriculum includes English for Academic Purposes (EAP) instruction, tailored to support language proficiency and subject-specific knowledge, influenced by the UN Sustainability Goals (SDGs).
- This role entails leading and delivering EAP teaching for the IYZ programme while offering English language support to undergraduate and postgraduate students campus-wide. The ideal candidate will contribute to establishing EAP and the IYZ program as a hub for English language excellence, fostering a vibrant campus community.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree or higher and possess teaching experience in a UK higher education setting. Additionally, experience in designing EAP lessons across reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills within an academic context is essential. Candidates should have an ELT qualification (such as DELTA certificate or equivalent) and a Master's in an English-related field (e.g., ELT, Applied Linguistics). A genuine passion for nurturing future generations of DMU graduates is a must.
