EssentialResponsibilities

  • Greets patients, members and otherhealth care personnel in caring, helpful manner and initiatesservice transactions using proper forms andprocess.
  • Refers all inquiries or issuesregarding patient-care/consultation topharmacist.
  • By typing or computer entry, Inputspatient and prescription information to produce labels and toassist in prescription filling process.
  • Matchesprescriptions with labels. Selects proper drug and quantity to bedispensed, fills container, applies labels and presents completedproduct to pharmacist for checking.
  • (Mayperform in hospital setting) As trained or qualified, Preparesadequate supply of medication for unit dosedistribution.
  • (May perform in hospital setting)Processes Clinic and Hospital Drug Requisitions. Receives, fillsdrug and medical supply requests. Checks stock levels per schedule.Removes outdated goods and replenishes to fixedlevels.
  • (May perform in hospital setting) Fillsand updates unit dose cassettes per determinedsupply.
  • Assists with and/or provides medication(checked by pharmacist), OTC product, or supplies to correctpatient in helpful and caring manner. Refers all consultationfunction to pharmacist. Collects money ifneeded.
  • (May perform in hospital setting)Picks-up and delivers medications and supplies to designated areasor persons per schedule (e.g. unit dose exchange, controlsubstance, floor stock).
  • Calculates price forprescriptions or order. Sells non-prescription drugs. Collectscash, check, or credit card payments for all collectible services.Verifies information is accurate on all checks. Assures validauthorization is received for all credit card payments. Validateschecks and credit slips and issues receiptsaccordingly.
  • Balances monies, checks, andcredit card charge documents daily against cash register receipts.Reconciles any discrepancy. Prepares bankdeposit.
  • Gathers and computes data andinformation for variety of needs pertaining to health plan,non-plan, special and routine reports, studies, and statistics asnecessary.
  • Maintains accurate OTC chargeschedules and price lists, adjustschanges.
  • Orders routine bank supplies forcashiering area. Assures all equipment in cashiering area isoperating in acceptable manner. Advises supervisor of anymalfunctions and/or Reports same to appropriate servicecompany.
  • (May perform in hospital setting)Maintains appropriate level of drugs and supplies foroperations.
  • Orders, receives, stores, returns,credits, and discards drugs andsupplies.
  • Packs, compounds, reconstitutes, anddistributes inventory for issue, transfer ordispensing.
  • Files prescriptions and anytransaction document of pharmacy operations timely andappropriately.
  • Accepts responsibility forresolving immediate problems and accomplishing assigned tasks andreporting irregularities.
  • Inspects andmaintains work area and equipment in organized, clean, safe, andefficient working condition.
  • Observes andcomplies with departments policies and procedures and organizationshouse rules such as but not limited to safety, attendance, properattire, and continuing education.
  • Coordinatesand answers incoming phone calls. Handles or directs call toappropriate individuals.

Experience

BasicQualifications:

  • Previous pharmacy experience requiredor in a pharmacy technician training program.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalentrelated experience.

License, Certification,Registration

  • PharmacyTechnician Certificate

AdditionalRequirements

  • Demonstrated ability to safely handleand/or prepare compounds such as chemotherapeutic agents,biologicals or other medications.
  • Demonstratedknowledge of and skill in adaptability customer service, oralcommunication, multi-tasking, teamwork, and writtencommunication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of andskill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PCapplications.
  • Talking to co-workers, customers,outside vendors, and on the telephone.
  • Reading,writing, speaking, and understandingEnglish.
  • Training/giving and receivinginstructions.
  • Mathematical ability, attentionto detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing),concentration, and alertness.

PreferredQualifications
