Head of Welfare & Industry for the Middle and Senior School at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in the academic year.


Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender school until Year 8 and a girl's only school from Year 9 onwards.

It is located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Strategic direction and development of the Middle and Senior School

  • Promote relationships within and outside the Academy to enhance the #ourmamoura community
  • Liaison with Industry Partners and securing of Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs)
  • Further development of the established House System and charity fundraising
  • Support teams with writing the SEF and SDP
  • Marketing the Middle and Senior School including Social Media development
  • Pastoral MER and quality assurance
  • Driving and quality assuring events including celebrations, Enterprise Week, the Careers' Fair and Work Experience
  • Deputy Safeguarding Lead
  • Overseeing the content and quality of the annual yearbook
  • Organisation, monitoring and quality assurance of Parent & Teacher Conferences and Open Evenings
  • Transition management through years, phases and across academies.

B. Teaching and learning

  • Ensure high expectations for all staff in relation to pastoral support and welfare of students
  • Intervention monitoring
  • Induction sessions for new staff
  • Quality assurance of the Moral Education and Enrichment curriculums
  • Leading weekly assemblies for Middle and Senior School
  • Final quality assurance of reports from pastoral teams.

C. Leading and managing staff

  • Line management of Heads of Year from Year 5 to Year 13, including weekly meetings and performance management in line with Academy expectations and UAE national standards
  • Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships with teams, ensuring collaboration, support, accountability and high professional standards
  • Line management of the Career's Counsellor
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will participate in regular walkarounds and dropins as well as the formal observation cycle to ensure high standards across the school.

D. Managing resources

  • Monitoring and analysing CPOMS referrals to ensure the welfare of students
  • School tours for prospective parents
  • Fire and evacuation registers
  • CATS/Admission and Transfers for new students.

E. Other duties and responsibilities

  • To be an Academic Mentor to Year 11 and Year 13 students
  • To lead ELT and SLT presentations as required
  • Undertake duties as part of the staff duty rota
  • Fulfil teaching responsibilities as and when needed to support the education team
  • Invigilate examinations, as required, including a minimum of one evening and one weekend external examination session, to support the Examinations Officer and Summer Examination Schedule
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor degree in Education or a Bachelor of Arts with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 6 years teaching experience in English National Curriculum
