Overall Purpose of TheJob

The ownerof the Service Delivery offering to V.Ships Customers having fullauthority and accountability of decisions that ensure the Customeris provided with a full functioning ship and crew thereby enablingtop quality operational performance. To lead motivate and coach theFleet Cell team and the vessel crew thus ensuring Customersatisfaction. The Fleet Manager is one of the most importantfunctions in our business and is accountable for and has theauthority to take decisions that ensure his/her ships are operatedto the highest standards in compliance with legal and regulatoryrequirements and in accordance
with V.Ships VMS soensuring flawless service delivery to customers.

Key Responsibilities andTasks

  • Safetyis our first priority and the Fleet Manager has the authority andthe accountability for taking necessary decisions that ensureconstant safe operation and that everybody comes home safe. TheFleet Manager is the authority ensuring safe operation andprotecting the environment.
  • Our Customers areour second priority after safety. The Fleet Manager is responsiblefor and has the authority to deliver full ship management serviceto the Customer. The Fleet Manager position is the link between theCustomer and his/her ship and the responsible person for ensuringthat the Customer fully benefits from the operational performanceof his/her ship.
  • Own the product delivered toV.Ships Customers having the authority and accountability to takethe necessary decisions to ensure Flawless Service Delivery. Theowner of the relationship with his/her Customers and being the linkbetween the Customer and his/her ship.
  • Lead theFleet Cell team and the leadership on board the ships to deliverFlawless Services to Customers by always ensuring that the team hasthe support and the skills necessary to keep the Customers needs infocus while ensuring the highest standard of safety onboard.
  • Train encourage mentor and develop thefleet cell team and the leadership on board. Ensure that thenecessary training and feedback is provided to grow his/her teamashore and on board.
  • Always have the bestinterest for the Customer as the highest priority being the face tothe Customer ensuring that strong relationships are built byengaging with the Customers on a frequent basis and ensuring thatthe team does the same. Proactively identify and share continuousimprovement opportunities in cooperation with the Customer and theteam on board and ashore.
  • By using allappropriate tools (Shipsure CTD CSP etc) and periodic meetingsmonitor & ensure the Fleet Cell is working efficiently withno complaints from the Clients. Directly responsible for the Safetyculture morale and performance of the team on board andashore.
  • Ensure that any issues that affect ormay affect the safety environmental or operational performance ofassigned vessels are reported in time and take the necessarydecisions to protect the Customersinterest.
  • Manage Dry Dock Vacation and otherabsence planning so that the Fleet Cell can operate efficiently anduninterrupted. Raise concerns if necessary to demand support fromthe whole organisation in the best interest of theCustomer.
  • Take responsibility to ensure allthird party inspections (SIRE CDI PSC etc.) are passed with aminimum number of observations. Take the necessary precautionsand/or arrange for the necessary support to ensure that all vesselsstay operational and attractive. Never compromise safety and theenvironment. To ensure that each voyage is affected safelyefficiently and with the minimum impact on theenvironment.
  • Ensure that the Fleet Cell andVessels (along with Superintendents) are adequately and competentlystaffed with requisite experience. Ensure timely and appropriatesupport is provided to the Cell from other Internal Services.Immediately raise concern if there is a lack ofsupport.
  • Responsible for approving the FleetCells annual Vessel Operating Budgets prior to submission to theclient in accordance with their budget timetable. Ensure that theCustomers are kept clearly updated on all operational and financialparameters and ensure that a 12 month rolling OPEX estimate isprovided for each vessel each month. Work with the team on boardand ashore to ensure that the Customer is fully up to date at alltimes.
  • Take every opportunity when liaisingwith customers to promote V.Group services and proactively pitchfor relevant business opportunities.
  • To be anadvocate of ShipSure and ensure it is properly utilised within thefleet cell. Support and assist colleagues where required andprovide constructive feedback to aid continuous improvement of thesystem.

Essential

  • RecognisedMaritime qualification and/or relevant experience atsea.
  • With five (5) years experience in a marinerelated company preferably as Technical Superintendent or VesselManager
  • Good communication (oral and written)skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with theability to engage interact and lead people at alllevels.
  • Good planning and organisationalskills
  • Ability to produce creative andeffective solutions to problems
  • Committed todelivering a quality service controlling costs/budgets andproviding value formoney
