Person Specifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma

Minimum Experience: 2-3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying with knowledge in contract law and experience

in cost control

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Working knowledge of ERP packages, systems integration, data processing and analysis.
  • Experience in EPC projects, Fabrication, Shut Down, and Tanks & Pressure Vessels projects.
  • Competent enough to understand various cost components of project.
  • Competent enough to understand to quantify various sub contracts works i.e. Painting, Insulation, Fire
proofing, Scaffolding, Structural & Piping works etc.

  • Sound knowledge on productivity norms used in fabrication

Generic Skills:

  • Good written and oral communications.
  • Knowledge of ERP system.
  • Understand the project process and execution
  • Desire to learn various cost control measures.
  • Knowledge of Construction Activities impacting cost & schedule

Roles & Responsibilities:

Quantity Survey:

  • Verify bid quantities and compare with actual quantities of structural,
piping, E&I, painting area etc. and notify project manager for the

deviation

  • Prepare variation claims for the quantity difference in consultation
with Project Manager

  • Identify and monitor change requests from client and prepare claims
as per contract terms

  • Interact with client / consultant related to variation claims
  • Verify and approve sub contractor work & supplier scope
  • Verify and advise project manager for sub contractor's variation
claims

Tracking project variations:

  • Prepare variation register and update frequently
  • Involve in RFA process and highlight the variations to the budget, if
any prior to making commitments

  • Track the cost towards variations to the contract/ scope over and
above the agreed scope

Cost Control:

  • Set up cost breakdown structure.
  • Identify cost commitments to complete the project in coordination
with Project Manager.

  • Discuss with Project Management concerning cost codes for
effective tracking & allocate sub-job numbers accordingly.

  • Closely monitor the cost booking.

Invoicing:

  • Prepare and issue progress invoices as per approved progress
report / project milestone in consultation with project manager.

  • Followup with project manager for timely progress reports for timely
invoicing.

Report Generation:

  • Preparation of project cost summary in line with project manager
requirement and directive.

  • Manage all project cost reporting including project management,
engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction & third

parties.

  • Generate monthly cost reports in close association with project
manager incorporating cost to date, cost to complete, variation to the

initial budget/ additional revenue (claimed VS approved)

Others:

  • Attend cost meetings (weekly, monthly) and leads cost reviews with
key stakeholders (e.g. Finance Manager, Project Engineers, PM).
