Engagement Manager Energy and SustainabilityA position has arisen for an Engagement Manager Energy and Sustainability within our Advisory team to join our Dubai Office.

Our Energy and Sustainability Advisors work across a broad range of consulting projects in the Middle East and internationally.

The work delivered by the team relies on broad holistic and integrated thinking combined with strong and grounded knowledge around the built environment - underpinned by data, experience, and informed analysis.

The Buro Happold Sustainability team is constantly developing and uses project-based and academic research to investigate and apply new concepts to promote healthy sustainable development.

Potential areas for future research include but are not limited to:

Understanding the efficacy of alternative approachesUsing emerging digital and automated technologies to collect and analyze primary and secondary dataDeveloping corporate and government policies/regulations, high-level and specialized modelingUtilizing recognized systems approaches
Depending on your experience and skillset, you will sit within one or two streams of our sustainability capability.

However, our approach acknowledges that supporting these streams often requires holistic and context-aware consideration of various factors, drawing on support from services around the following streams: Energy and Carbon, Building Performance, Natural Capital, Climate Resilience, External Environments, Health and Wellbeing, Social Value, Circular Economy.

To help drive our sustainability offering, we require ambitious and enterprising consultants to apply their skills to building and master planning projects.

The consultant is not expected to be an expert but will have a strong passion, broad interest, and specialist skills that complement the current team balance.

In this role, you will work as part of a close-knit team under our senior team members' guidance while supporting the development of graduates and leading defined scopes of work and bids.

Your daily responsibilities are expected to comprise the following...
Energy and Sustainability project and service supportTask leadership and direction/mentorship of more junior team membersProduction of technical guidance and analysis to influence Energy and Sustainability strategiesProviding written comments and producing reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical qualityWorking as part of multidisciplinary teams (including, but not limited to attending meetings with architects, planners, government agencies, and clients)Formulating external presentations for outreach and business development purposes

Ideally some specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Energy and Carbon, Building Performance, Natural Capital, Climate Resilience, External Environments, Health & Wellbeing, Social Value, Circular economyAbility to communicate in an effective and confident mannerWorking knowledge of wellbeing and sustainable design techniques, analysis, or modeling relevant to the construction industry or corporate strategiesExperience in undertaking technical analysis, and the development of suitable responsive strategiesWorking knowledge of relevant UAE and KSA policies and regulations (or equivalent)Experience producing high-quality graphical and written outputsStrong facilitation and team working skills and a drive to deliver outstanding resultsAssessment system qualifications (LEED, Estidama, Mostadam, WELL) and evidence of practical competence of their applicationExuding passion and enthusiasm for the built environment to support human outcomes and fair distribution of valueRelevant Degree in EngineeringExperience in the Middle East is essentialA relevant Degree and or Masters
