The Director ofResearch for the Department of Emergency Medicine (EM)will:

  • Oversee the coordination,development, and quality improvement of researchactivities.
  • Work closely with the EM residencyprogram leadership to improve resident training and foster healthyintellectual dialogue.
  • Assist EM staff/CoreFaculty in efforts to improve faculty engagement in research andscholarly activities.
  • Provide oversight of theresearch coordinator position.
  • Lead maintenanceand improvement of the research program.
  • Assistthe EM residency program director regarding compliance with RRCregulations.
  • Work closely with Geisinger coreresearch team to coordinate programs and projects that advance themission of Emergency Medicine research at Geisinger.

This full-time position is split 40%research and 60% clinical. Education and experience(Required):

  • Careeremergency physician with proven research experience, includingsuccess in obtaining and leading federally funded or equivalentresearch.
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinicalpractice.
  • Board certification in emergencymedicine by ABEM or AOBEM.
  • Experience inresearch mentoring and collaborative program building.

  • Established trauma programwith trauma designations at multiple sites. Each region includes aLevel 1 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and STEMIreceiving center.
  • Embedded, multi-disciplinaryteam of care managers and clinical pharmacists in emergencydepartments to create a holistic, streamlined process from triageto discharge.
