JobSummary
Operates magneticresonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images(photographs) of patient's body for diagnostic purposes.Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the ImagingServices Director, with latitude for independent judgment,ingenuity and initiative, performs related technological functionsto ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizingefficient and safeprocesses.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Performs patient studies according toset protocol including placing specified coil close to area ofinterest.
- Operates imaging and other equipmentdevices so that quality diagnostic services are provided, includingkeying commands to specify scan sequences into computer, adjustingtransmitters and receivers, and keying in data on keyboard ofcamera to photograph images.
- Interviews patientto explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures to address patientconcerns and exhibits a high degree of tact, courtesy and poisewhen interacting with patients, staff, andvisitors.
- Ensures patient and staff safety,including explaining safety protocol, requesting removal ofhazardous metal objects, alerting staff of danger or carrying metalaround magnet, and monitoring patients via closed circuitTV.
- Orients new hires and trains MRITechnologist, students, trainees.
- Trains MRITechnologists I in MRI procedures.
- May berequired to direct, check and train other MRI employees in absenceof MRI Supervising Technologist.
- Perform otherrelated duties as necessary.

Experience
BasicQualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years Regular (twenty(20) hours or more per week) continuous recent experience as a MRITechnologist and be fully proficient in all the duties required ofa MRI Technologist II to the satisfaction of the departmentmanager.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED.
License, Certification,Registration
- RadiologicTechnologist Certificate (California)
- CertifiedRadiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)within 6 months of hire
- Basic LifeSupport
AdditionalRequirements
- Must have demonstrated proficiency inteaching other Technologists.
- May be requiredto direct, check and train other MRIemployee.
- Must be fully proficient in MRI tothe full satisfaction of the department manager and have knowledgeof the required protocols in performing complex MRIprocedures.
- Effective oral and writtencommunications skills.
- Ability to effectivelypresent information in one-on-one and small group situations tocustomers, clients, and other incumbents of theorganization.
- Must be willing to work in aLabor Management Partnership environment.
- Alsorefer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriatecollective bargaining agreement.
PreferredQualifications
