Estimator


CompanyOverview:Ourclient has an exciting opportunity for an Estimator that will beresponsible for evaluating bid specifications and plans, ensuringthat we know everything required to successfully bid and win theproject. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractorsto ensure that bids are received. Estimators also work with theProject Management, coordinate Business Development and FieldSuperintendents to follow-up on bids and budgets to close thebusiness.


BidAdministration:

  • Preparesand maintains status of plan reproduction
  • Solicitsand maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors
  • Preparessubcontractor bidpackages
  • Transmitsaddenda and other bid information to subcontractors
  • Ensuresthat we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day
  • Showscreativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing fromsubcontractors
  • Submits100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline no exceptions
  • Entersall relevant information intoHCSS

ProjectKnowledge:

  • Extensiveknowledge of the public works heavy civil biddingenvironment
  • FDOTRoadway, drainage, utility and structure estimatingexperience
  • Extensiveexperience with HCSS estimatingsoftware
  • DesignBuild Proposal Development Experience
  • Ableto prepare bid construction schedules. P6 experiencepreferable.
  • Reviewbid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on everybid
  • Hasa thorough understanding of the scope for specific tradesassigned
  • Developsand submits bid RFIs and clarifications and ensure adequatesubcontractor coverage and shows interest
  • Performsa comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping ofspecific assignedtrades
  • Consistentlyfollows up on submitted bids and budgets with Project Managers andSuperintendents to close business.
  • Properlyturns over bid documents and sub buyout information to ProjectManagement in a timely manner. Goal is 100% of awarded projectsturned over within one week of notification.
  • Reviewplans with Project Management team and highlight areas ofconcern
  • Reviewjob cost with Project Management team and highlight anysubs/material vendors that still need to be awarded
  • Seeks& qualifies newsubcontractors
  • Handleall subcontractor interactions in a manner designed to build along-term relationship.
  • Developpersonal / social relationships with selective subcontractors.Operate as One Team
  • Buildstrong win-win relationships with other departments, includingproject management, business development, accounting, andsuperintendents.
  • Ensuresthat bids and proposals are competitive and have the greatestchance of winning. This may require the employee to arrive early,stay late, or perform tasks not specifically outlined in the jobdescription.
  • Readlocal business and relevant construction trade publications.
  • Initiatesuggestions for company-wide processimprovements.
  • Researchand maintain technological excellence in their work environment.
  • Participatein company-wide events, such as meetings, socials, etc.
  • Demonstrateadherence to and performance in keeping with the project goal

  • Qualifications:
