What You WillDo

  • TheManagement Consulting Associate Director and Director inGuidehouse's State and Local Government Practice leadsdelivery teams on high impact State & Local Governmentclient engagements and drives business developmentactivities.
  • Key activitiesinclude:
    • Establishing approaches to gatherinformation from clients regarding client structure, process,technology and culture
    • Facilitating meetingswith client stakeholders to gatherinformation
    • Managing quality control forproject deliverables and work product consistent with Guidehousequality requirements
    • Leverage Guidehouseframeworks and other leading practices identify and implementprogram improvements for clients
    • Effectivelyleveraging project resources to accomplish tasks while providingregular feedback and coaching
    • Driving businessdevelopment activities including RFP responses, proposaldevelopment, and peak accountplanning

WhatYou Will Need

  • Critical thinking to solve problemsand develop innovative solutions to client's management andoperational challenges.
  • Proven abilities as ateam leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust;seeking diverse views to encourage improvement andinnovation;participating in various staff recruitment and retentionactivities; and coaching staff including providing timelymeaningful written and verbal feedback.
  • Abilityto 'quick start' account plan and target newbusiness opportunities that support relevant practice developmentgoals and objectives.
  • An Associate Director orDirector in Guidehouse's State and Local Governmentpractice must possess the following:
    • 7+ yearsfor Associate Director and 10+ years for Director minimumexperience in management consulting with at least 3 - 5 years inState & Local Government or related field within the Stateand Local Government sector
    • Bachelor'sDegree from an accreditedcollege/university
    • Proficiency in MicrosoftWord, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Excellent oral andwritten communication skills
    • Strong analyticaland problem-solving skills
    • Experience managingprojects and junior & mid-levelstaff
    • Must reside and be able to travelthroughout the state of Illinois and on occasion outside theMidwestregion.

WhatWould Be Nice To Have

  • Master's Degree - MPP or MPA(including MBA or equivalent)
  • Experiencemanaging challenging projects and servingclients
  • Experience facilitating meetings andpublic speaking with large groups
  • Experiencewith one more of the following areas: business process redesign, HRconsulting, business case development, IT strategy andimplementation
  • Management consulting skillssuch as project management, financial modeling, operationalmodeling, and stakeholdermanagement
  • Familiarity with the Illinoisgovernment structures and processes
