PositionSummary:

The Quality ControlSupervisor oversees and monitors Quality Inspectors, including theinspection and testing of materials, parts, and products in aproduction and developmental environment to ensure adherence toestablished quality standards. The QC supervisor works incollaboration with the Engineering and Quality teams to plan,prioritize and execute developmental activities within the QC Labutilizing its equipment and manning resources. The QC Supervisormay recommend changes to product/material based on inspectionresults, creates and revises quality control policies andprocedures, and trains affected personnel. Responsible for theperformance to assigned performance business metrics in respectivebusiness area e.g. MRB, Training, etc. Additionally, responsiblefor supporting overarching business targets and objectives. The(QCS) is a working Supervisor of the Quality Control Dept. that mayparticipate in Inspection (when needed) based on planned orunanticipated lows in the workforce.

EssentialFunctions/Responsibilities:

Supervisethe quality control department employees, which includes handlingof all personnel issues and responsibilities in conjunction with HRand established policies.

Manage adequatestaffing levels to ensure the continuity of the InspectionOperation. Responsible for approvals of PTO requests, overtime, anddaily time clock punches.

Supervise theselection, workflow, training and development of QC InspectionStaff to ensure a high degree of execution (safety, productivityand quality performance).

Assess of trainingand development needs of the QC Inspection personnel andadministering training program to strengthen the knowledge viacross-training in a multi-disciplinary setting/approach e.g. use ofall inspection methods, manual inspection, vision system,coordinate measurement devices/equipment, gauge R&R,etc.

Ensure timely execution and effectivenessof Incoming/In-Process/Final inspections by managing QC workschedule and daily priorities to support company delivery scheduleand productivity goals.

Provide leadershipsupport to the QC Inspection team by assigning tasks, mentoring,coaching, training

Assist the QualityEngineering Dept. in determining appropriate AQL samplingtechniques and methods to ensure the appropriate level of QualityControl Inspection

Serve as the point ofcontact between Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing to ensuretimely and accurate communication of product issues andchanges.

Assess production process issues, froma QC inspection perspective and recommend any improvements whilemaintaining quality performance.

Develop andimplement quality assurance inspection programs/procedures to meetproduction standards and customer requirements in alignment withtypically accepted industry standards and methods.

Ensure that all lab equipment and measurement devices aremaintained and generate any necessary corrective actions.

Obtain quotes and generate requisitions for any neededancillary equipment/devices or services in support of measurementequipment. e.g. regular maintenance intervals, calibration etc.

Make on-site recommendations with regard toequipment measurement devices e.g. preventative maintenance,service contracts. Evaluate/vet vendors to ensure the properquality and service is maintained.

Must have computer skills and beproficient with MS Windows and all common MS Office applicationse.g. Word, Excel, Power Point etc.

  • Have a good understanding of ISO-9001 and ISO-13485.
  • Good written and verbal skills, and workingknowledge in the use of all hand measuring instruments, opticalcomparators, CMM, statistical methods, blueprint reading, GD&T

Ability to Supervise/Manage othersin an empathetic and professional manner in alignment with companypolicies, procedures, and guidelines.

Effectiveplanning and organizational skills.

Must becapable of providing sound judgement, on multiple fronts, in anappropriate and professional manner with employees, customers, andsuppliers.

  • Demonstrate proficiency inIQMS MRB, RMA Modules and any other applicable business systemmodules.
  • Be comfortable communicating withmanagers, engineers, etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of mathematical principles
  • Ability to conceptualize ideas and or conceptsand construct into clear and concise statements.
  • Ability to read and write in the EnglishLanguage.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic

Education/Experience:

  • 5 years quality experience with 3 yearsprogressive supervisory experience

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in English.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questionsfrom groups of managers, clients, customers, and the generalpublic.

ReasoningAbility:

Ability to solve practicalproblems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished inwritten, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
