JOBSUMMARY
The PhysicalTherapist Assistant assists in implementing the rehabilitative planof care under the direction and supervision of a qualified PhysicalTherapist.

QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from anaccredited physical therapist assistants program with an Associates degree approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.Licensed or Certified by the state in which the Physical TherapistAssistant resides or practices according to staterequirements.

PHYSICALDEMANDS
Requiresmoderately heavy physical exertion on a regular and reoccurringbasis such as extensive driving, assisting patients in transferactivities (wheelchair to bed, to tub, to commodes) and providingsubstantial support to individuals in ambulation therapy. Regularlyrequired to use hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop,kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move over 100pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, depthperception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS
General office,health care setting - exposure to infectious disease.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Provides direct physical therapy services according to directionsof the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician splan of care. Observes, records and reports to the PhysicalTherapist and clinical supervisor responses to treatment and anychanges in the patient s condition.

2.Treats the patient in accordance with the care plan after the PTperforms the initial evaluation to establish treatment goals,frequency, duration and specific modalities to be used inaccordance with the physician s orders with the PT. Treat patientsto relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximumperformance, using physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat,light, and electricity.

3. Reviews weeklythe patient s programs. Contacts Physical Therapist directly forpatient reports and care as needed, or required by State/Federalguidelines.

4. Submits appropriate writtenreports of the patient s progress at the designated intervals tothe physician and/or PT. All notes written by the PTA will beco-signed (if state requires) by the supervising PhysicalTherapist.

5. Instructs patients regardingphysical therapy procedures designated by the supervising PhysicalTherapist.

6. Adheres to all applicablefederal, state, local and company-maintained standards of care andethics and policies concerned with the practice of physical therapyand among other things, personnel qualifications.

7. Participates in staff development activities and inin-services education programs.

8. Meetsproductivity and utilization expectations as established by theCompany and the facility.

9. Completestimely clinical documentation to include functional goal-setting,progress and therapeutic approach.

10.Completes administrative/billing documentation timely andaccurately.

11. Covers more than onefacility as required by the need of the Company.

Observes, records and reports to the physician thepatient s reaction to the therapy program or any changes in thepatient s condition. 5. Advises, consults and instructs patients inthe use of prosthetic, orthotic and assistive devices. Instructs,teaches and supervises other health care team personnel in the caseof patients requiring occupational therapy. 6. May superviseCertified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) and co-sign CertifiedOccupational Therapy Assistant s progress notes. 7. Adheres to allapplicable federal, state, local and company maintained standardsof care and ethics and policies concerned with the practice ofoccupational therapy and among other things, personnelqualifications. 8. Participates in staff development activities.Participates in in-services education programs. 9. Demonstratesevidence of continuing education conducted for the in-servicesessions. 10. Meets productivity and utilization expectations asestablished by the Company and the facility. 11. Completes timelyclinical documentation to include functional goal-setting, progressand therapeutic approach. 12. Completes clinical documentationtimely and accurately. 13.
