GENERAL STATEMENT OFFUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as aprimary technical expert and consultant for Educational TrainingProgram at Kedren Health.
  • Participates in thedeveloping, planning, coordinating and implementing employeeorientation and education programs for the hospital staff. Ensuresthat current clinical or administrative concerns/staff educationalneeds are incorporated into the learning activities for nursing orother instructional needs of the organization. Determines learningobjectives, provide guidance to others and identifies sources ofinformation. Reviews and evaluates course materials for clarity,educational adequacy and accomplishment of objectives. Changes inthe educational activities are based on the analysis of the resultsand analysis of staff learning needs.
  • Evaluatesthe effectiveness of the overall employee orientation andcontinuing educational programs.
  • Developscriteria for employee orientation and continuing education programsbased upon established guidelines set up by hospital policies,official accreditation organizations, and regulatory agencies.Actively involved in hospital education committees to improveprocesses.
  • Observes, guides and directsprofessional nurses and other staff members who are involved indeveloping and presenting employee orientation and educationalprograms.
  • Maintains accurate, retrievable andconfidential records in compliance with departmental,organizational, and external agencyrequirements.
  • Manages and coordinates civiliangraduate and undergraduate clinical education. Actively exchangesknowledge of nursing practice and educational concerns with peersand university level academicians.
  • Utilizes avariety of sources to identify learning needs of hospital personneland plans either formal or informal learning activities to addressthese needs. Ensures that education training programs are incompliance with The Joint Commission requirements for hospitaleducation, and that standards are activelysustained.
  • Prepares and submits timely andcomprehensive reports to internal and external agencies. Integratesresearch and current literature into educationalactivities.
  • Embraces and institutes policiesand initiatives. (60%)
  • Develops, markets,collects, interprets, analyzes, and reports the results of thestaff Learning Needs Assessment Survey(s) in accordance withpolicy, and The Joint Commissionstandards.
  • Facilitates information exchange andeducation as opportunities toimprove.
  • Integrates research and currentliterature into educational activities.(20%)
  • Provides consultative assistance to staffon issues related to competencyassessment.
  • Serves as a subject matter experton issues related to education andcompetency.
  • Updates tools in response tochanging missions and health care practices, and provides guidanceto the organization on the importance, organization, and use ofcompetency and personnel documentationfolders.
  • Serves as a consultant to leadershipand supervisors on issues related to competency and accreditationstandards. Monitors, audits and analyzes competency assessmentcompliance. Reports results to appropriate leadership. Identifiesstaff learning needs based on competencyassessments.
  • Facilitates education and trainingthat maintains or increases staff competency and incorporates theskills of team communication, collaboration and coordination ofcare.
  • Serves as an instructor forcourses/programs offered by hospital education as needed (i.e. lifesupport courses, preceptorship course, new employee orientation,etc). (20%)
