Managing Editor, Information - Yahoo Middle East Yahoo Maktoob is looking for a versatile, aggressively fast-paced and innovative individual to lead editorial programming and production of our daily news and finance coverage as Managing Editor, Information for Yahoo Middle East English. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of running a digital news team. Candidates must be comfortable working in real-time collaborating with multiple teams in different locations and coordinating with strategic partners in a dynamic environment. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, impeccable news judgment and the ability to make high-stakes decisions quickly and clearly.Responsibilities:• Drive and own the editorial vision and strategy for Yahoo News & Finance for Middle East English• Responsible for overseeing the production and programming of Yahoo News and Finance across all platforms• Manage a small editorial team and work closely with the wider media teams worldwide• Participates in key product discussions for Yahoo News & Finance• Responsible for the original content strategy for Yahoo News & Finance• Manage coordinating coverage of major news with FP• Identify gaps in coverage/ ensure we are on top of 24/7 news cycle and contribute and implement ideas and stories to enhance our timeliness• Evaluate partners and partner content, and manage and contribute to special partnerships• Manage events diary and plan/ commission features and special event coverage accordingly• Manage hiring needs and related human resources requirements, including hiring of contractors, freelancers, and other temporary staff, as needed• Understand the audience and its interests and feed those back into editorial and product plans to make Information a daily habit English - Fluent / ExcellentArabic - Very Good Own a Car Any Have Driving License Any Job Skills • 5 years of editorial management, preferably in the digital news arena• A track record of aggressive management and quick turn editorial programming in a fast-paced digital news environment• Extensive experience managing content across different locations and time zones• Comfortable working with senior management and corporate matrix partners• Excellent news judgement combined with a fine-tuned sensibility of when and where to take risks• Excellent communication skills and an ability to lead while working collaboratively with multiple teams• A comprehensive understanding of editorial best practices, including SEO and SMO• B.A. required, preferably in journalism or media• Excellent command of fluent English (written and spoken) required.
