Actalent is seeking abuyer/planner to work ONSITE IN VIRGINIA BEACH,VA

Works as acommodity manager for Indirect Material & MRO (Maintenance,Repair and Operations) commodities, setting and executing commoditystrategies. Responsible for purchasing a variety of types of parts,managing simple and complex purchase requests, RFQs, price andcontract term negotiations and sourcing decisions. Negotiatesstrategic long-term goals and plans with our major suppliers inorder to reduce cost, maximize inventory turns, shorten lead-timesand increase efficiency in thebusiness.

DailyResponsibilities:

  • Coordinates with Engineering,Manufacturing, and other departments to lead and/or executesourcing projects.
  • Solicits quotations fromcurrent and new suppliers. Verifies current drawing revisionsand/or Statements of Work (SOW) are sent to suppliers andcoordinates resolution of any technical questions between thesupplier and Engineering/Quality and other requisitioningdepartments.
  • Prepares, evaluates and makesrecommendations related to cost savings projects and new productprograms.
  • Tracks commodity pricing and developspricing analyses as input to pricenegotiations
  • Coordinates with Global Purchasingcounterparts in Germany and Switzerland to solicit quotations andparticipate in global sourcing decisions.
  • Aidsin the development of Supply Agreements and develops strategicpricing, inventory and delivery plans with majorsuppliers
  • Negotiates commercial issues withsuppliers
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurancedepartment to assure suppliers are reacting appropriately toquality issues.
  • Leads quality and deliveryimprovement projects with North American suppliers. Issues SupplierCorrective Action Requests for repeat or important delivery orquality nonconformities and follows up with suppliers to ensureeffective measures are put in place to prevent futureoccurrences
  • Develops new suppliers to meetBusch supplier standards for quality, cost, delivery andpartnership
  • Maintains contact with suppliers,provides feedback regarding performance and cost initiatives.Coordinates with suppliers regarding visits to the Busch facilitiesand visits to supplier facilities
  • AidsProcurement Buyers in issuing purchase orders as needed andmaintains pricing in LN systems
  • Aids PurchasingPlanner with escalated expediting needs.

Skills needed to besuccessful in this role:

  • Responsible for purchasing a varietyof types of parts, managing simple and complex purchase requests,RFQs, price and contract term negotiations and sourcing decisions.Negotiates strategic long-term goals and plans with our majorsuppliers in order to reduce cost, maximize inventory turns,shorten lead-times and increase efficiency in thebusiness.
  • 2 years of purchasing experience of atactical nature in Indirect Material & MRO:Required
  • Awareness/understanding of legalaspects of business, purchasing, ethics:Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-yearcollege or technical school)
  • Experience withERP (Enterprise Resource Planning):Required
  • Experience with SAP: StronglyPreferred
  • Advanced knowledge of MicrosoftOffice Suite: Required
