Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Teaching experience in English National Curriculum.

B. Key Responsibilities Specific to Science Leadership:
  1. Strategic development of Science across the Lower School.
  2. Lead a Curriculum Action Group to raise the profile of Science and ensure it is high quality across the school.
  3. To write and develop the School Evaluation Form linked to Science for the appropriate Phases of the school.
  4. To be responsible for Lower School specific Science data and its analysis, identifying next steps from this.
  5. To develop, implement and actively monitor the Science Action Plan for the Lower School and ensure its continued success in meeting set targets.
  6. To actively contribute to the schools International Benchmarking Strategy and implement any required actions within Science.
  7. Effectively collaborate with the Head of Science in the Middle & Senior School to ensure there is consistency and progressions throughout the phase.
  8. Lead training and professional development for staff to ensure they feel confident to teach Science.
  9. Contribute to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Review process to quality assure the provision of Science.
  10. Oversee the Science curriculum to ensure there is consistency, progression and challenge.
  11. Contribute and present to the Executive Leadership Team when invited.
  12. Be prepared to represent Science during inspection through inspection readiness and in interviews.
C. Teaching and learning:
  1. To be able to teach all areas of the Primary English National Curriculum.
  2. Organising the classroom, learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment and support the development of the Mamoura British Academy USP in this area.
  3. Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
  4. Providing support and interventions for students with EAL or who have additional learning needs.
  5. Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  6. Evidencing children's work and learning in line with the Mamoura British Academy Marking and Feedback policy.
  7. Being reflective of lessons taught and student progress, and adjusting planning, curriculum and continuous provision to reflect this.
  8. Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if required.
  9. Ensuring that the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attributes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.
  10. Contribute to the development of teaching and learning across the school by sharing best practice, participating in school CPD and T&L initiatives.
  11. To be able to demonstrate effective use of technology through innovative and creative lesson delivery and continuous provision.
D. Assessment and data:
  1. Taking responsibility for the attainment and progress of a class of children to ensure that they reach above expected expectations.
  2. Meeting the requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development using Learning Ladders.
  3. Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning and interventions.
  4. Providing regular feedback to parents and carers on a student's progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
  5. To plan, prepare and contribute to termly Pupil Progress meetings.
E. Behaviour management and duties:
  1. To follow the Mamoura British Academy behaviour management policy and promote the TRACK Values to set high expectations.
  2. Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  3. Maintain good relationships with pupils and parents and follow the school's procedures to manage and challenge any rare occurrences of unwanted behaviour.
  4. Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils.
  5. Carry out playground and other duties in a punctual, interactive and proactive manner.
  6. Ensure that any concerns relating to behaviour & Safeguarding are accurately followed up on and logged on CPOMS.
