  • Assist students to find booksappropriate to their reading level and interest and help studentsand staff source topic-related books forstudy.
  • Embrace and encourage the ethos andstandards of excellence as defined in the GEMS CoreValues.
  • Responsible for arrangements forstudents to borrow library books, keeping records of booksborrowed, following up on unreturned books via written letters toparents etc.
  • Develop reading lists for variousage levels.
  • Teach younger students about books,their treatment and the library layout including the Dewey Decimalclassification system.
  • Liaise with Heads ofDepartment to select and prepare annual library order includingselection and renewal of subscriptions for periodicals. Placeorders and process delivery of newbooks.
  • Computer cataloguing of all books usingthe Dewey Decimal system if applicable and produce catalogues ofbooks held.
  • Repair and withdraw oldbooks.
  • Responsible for the storage, maintenanceand access to the audio-visual library.
  • Whereappropriate, find and encourage volunteer assistance and teachvolunteers the procedures and processes of thelibrary.
