Geotechnical engineering is a critical part of the geoscience business stream and is a core technical competency area for our clients.Role PurposeTo deliver geotechnical engineering analyses, consultancy and marine warranty surveying projects and assist with technical development in accordance with the quality management system. The geotechnical engineer in this role will have the opportunity to work on suite of offshore geotechnical projects with emphasis on renewable energy developments. We are looking for a graduate engineer or an engineer with some experience in geotechnical engineering to join our highly motivated team of geoscience experts with plentitude of training and knowledge transfer opportunities.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeliver engineering, MWS and other consultancy projects to meet quality and budget expectationsGeotechnical and ground model data review and derivation of design soil parametersPerform different geotechnical analyses related to offshore foundations.Assessing geohazard risks for various offshore projectsAssist in creating integrated ground modelsPerform foundation design and assessment for different infrastructures including Jack-ups, fixed and floating wind turbine generatorsUnder guidance, perform advanced numerical modelling using Finite Element MethodAssist in geotechnical earthquake engineering assessmentsPrepare reports and document reviewsProvide advice and support to colleagues and attend client sites to participate in meetingsAssist in projects to improve our capability and competitiveness, including assisting in the improvement and up-keep of engineering software and analysis toolsAssist in the marketing of Global MaritimeSpecific Skills, Knowledge and Experience requiredA degree in Civil Engineering, with Geotechnical related subjectsFundamental understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principalsPost graduate degrees and work experience in offshore geotechnical engineering are an advantageWorking ability in a range of engineering analysis toolsExcellent report writing and presentation skillsWorks as an effective member of a team and is aware of personal and wider goalsCommunicates technical information in a professional manner with colleagues and sometimes external clientsSolves problems using efficient and robust methodologiesManages own workload and prioritises tasks to meet deadlines and keep within budgetSelf-motivated and applies strong results focus to achieve targets.Health and SafetyTo uphold the Company’s Health & Safety requirements with particular regard to agreed codes of practice and safe methods of working.QualityTo follow the group Business Management SystemEqualitiesTo uphold and carry out the duties of the post with due regard to the Company’s ‘Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work Policy’.Company ValuesTo uphold the company values as set out in the Mission Statement.Your duties will be as set out in the above job description but please note that the Company reserves the right to update your job description from time to time, to reflect changes in, or to, your role.
