An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vessel Charter Lead / Engineer with superior analytical and leadership skills to join our Logistics Department team in Abu Dhabi office. The Vessel Charter Lead plays a lead role on the projects executed by JDN in the region.

We are looking for a determined, stress-resistant self-starter who can quickly adapt and do everything to get the job done.

  • In the role of Vessel Charter Lead you will lead the vessel charter team consisting out of 2 to 3 vessel charter coordinators/officers.
  • The Vessel Charter Lead must be able to work in a coordinating capacity relevant to the daily technical, commercial and administrative matters associated with the chartered vessels.
  • This person will work closely with other Logistic team members and other JDN personnel from other departments and report to the Logistics Manager.
  • Liaise with the project team including other departments (i.e. Operations, Crew Department, Technical Department, etc), vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, third parties and authorities.
  • Develop processes to improve the quality and efficiency within the department.
  • Train and coach team members
  • Day to day follow-up of the chartered vessels
  • Develop and adjust the reporting and invoicing system between the ship owners and JDN
  • Liaise with clients and vessel(s) owners regarding operational matters.
    Liaise with Project and Operations to establish requirements and provide assistance if possible. 
  • Interface between JDN Logistics department and other JDN departments (Project Controls, Operations, HSE, Contracts)
  • Assist with other items if required such as:
    • Coordinate vessel inspections with marine/permit, operational, technical, survey and HSE department.

    • Claim management

Profile
  • Msc degree in Mechanical, Civil or Maritime Engineering
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of work experience
  • Proven experience in leading teams with different backgrounds
  • Creativity and strong analytical skills
  • Able to work well in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a pragmatic approach
  • Strong engineering judgement skills based on practical offshore experience
  • Team player who also likes to coach team members
