Major achievements include; the first Transplant Center in the UAE and the sole provider of pediatric transplant services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest Cardiac Science program for pediatrics and adults and the only Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Program in Abu Dhabi, the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the region and outside the United States. SKMC is committed to providing exceptional and comprehensive adult surgical and medical services in its inpatient and outpatient facilities. SKMC also manages a Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory (BSL3) and a 125-bed Behavioral Sciences Pavilion, the largest mental care facility that provides adults and paediatrics services.Job SummaryThe Specialist Physician shares the same responsibility of the Consultant Physician for delivering high quality, evidence-based and patient-centered care. The post holder is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within the Division and contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.TechnicalUnder the supervision of the Consultant Physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Specialist’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following: Assists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provideComplies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practicesPractices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resourcesLeads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practiceAccurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established proceduresRegularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as requiredLiaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as requiredActively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patientsEnsures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consentAccepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitalsParticipates in and supports the Consultant Physician in ensuring the provision of out of hours on call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as requiredCommunicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely mannerMaintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient carePerforms other clinical responsibilities as assignedExperience Required: a. Tier 1: No additional experience required post board certification.b. Tier 2: NLT 2 years of clinical experience post qualification ininternationally accredited institute.UAE nationals: No additional experience required post boardcertificationFor UAE Nationals + Non UAE Nationals enrolled in HAADaccredited residency programs: : No experience required post boardcertificationC. Tier 3: NLT 3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in internationally accredited institute
