As a provider of multi disciplined technical services to the built environment Atkins in the Middle East is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine innovation, imagination and best practice.We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our expanding team in the Middle East and work on a range of challenging projects and specifically in our expanding Ground Engineering team based in Dubai.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with a proven track record in the design of underground / civil engineering structures including tunnels and shafts. Candidates should be practical and demonstrate good commercial skills that will help develop and expand our ground engineering business in the region.
A good academic background with a civil engineering bachelors or masters degreeChartered status in civil or structural engineeringExperience undertaking the design of underground structures, tunnels or related infrastructure.Min 8 years experience working on similar projectsGood written and verbal communication skills in English (clear, concise report writing will be expected)A high motivation to succeed, and to progress and develop their chosen careersA personality compatible with a high degree of collaborative and team workPractical experience of reinforcement design and detailing to British, European codesCommercially aware with a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken and the level of responsibility givenWorking knowledge of relevant structural design software e.g. Plaxis, Robot, ETABS, Staad ProLiaison with Clients, Contractors, design team and third partiesOffer support and guidance to more junior members of the teamEffectively manage own time which may be necessary if allocated to more than one projectWorking with CAD Technicians to produce relevant structural informationAlthough based in Dubai, you will be required to travel regionally and be eligible to work in both KSA and QatarBehavioursExcellent team playerDecisive, clear and consistent in approach to Structural Engineering DesignSound communicatorExcellent technical judgementAdaptableWillingness to participate in all aspects of Structural Engineering workload deliveryUnderstand the importance of technical accuracy with a high attention to detailPassionate about Structural Engineering and drive to exceed the requirements of internal and external stakeholdersRewards & BenefitsWe offer an excellent package which includes:A competitive salaryAccommodation allowanceTransportation allowance22 calenda
