Architect Design Director

ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture design team to develop design solutions for architectureAssume responsibility for and assist in the development of design conceptsPrepare with the project team documentation for tenders and constructionPlan project and subordinate designer workflowsAssist with resourcing requirements and planning for architecture projectsClarify scope of work and prepare schedule for reviewManage cost control for architecture turnkey and consulting projects. Assume overall responsibility for profit and loss of architecture teamMentor, train, supervise and manage senior and junior architects to produce good design and standard detailingEnsure senior and junior designers adhere to corporate policyAssist in marketing, business development and general representation of the companyLiaise with Reports to with the regards to management and performance of architecture teamQualificationsBachelor of ArchitectureMinimum 10 years experience in architectural designKnowledge/ Skills and AbilitiesGood communication and interpersonal skillsTime management skillsAbility to create and develop design detailsGood written and spoken EnglishResponsibilitiesProject Startup and PlanningFinalize the client brief for approval and sign offReview and summarize all statutory requirements in regards to local authority submissionsPrepare a list of documents to form the design documentation and working drawings packageAssist in preparing the client service or turnkey contract in coordination with the Project DirectorCollect briefing requirements and details of the project brief from the clientDesign and DocumentationPrepare sketch designs including perspectives material selections etcRevise the design based on input from the clientPrepare drawing documentation after signing final design development by clientPresent the design concept to the client with the Project DirectorVisit the site to take site measurements, digITal photographs and investigate the areaCoordinate with the M&E consultant or other project consultantsCoordinate with the BIM team to prepare construction documentation for both architectural, interior and M&E work including details and specificationForward sketch designs, details and materials of interior design and furniture for input by the BIM team and 3D (if necessary)Project ManagementAssist the Designer to develop details and cross check with other relevant documents such as M/EVisit site to inspect the construction and furniture installation, ensure compliance with the design specificationsPrepare a plan, including resources, to produce a proposalMaintain a register of all contractor communicationsCoordinate with the client's cost consultant /QS to develop and finalize budget detailsPrepare final as-built drawing documentation to submit to clientIssue information to the contractors in regards to RFI, change orders, additional details, site instructions and variationsAttend site meetings as necessaryITCoordinate with the IT team to update the dwp design database which includes 3D presentation images, BIM Library, photographs, products and projectMarketingAdd and update information in Google Gmail and Hubspot including dwp contacts categoriesAdministrationCoordinate the junior BIM, train and supervise BIM staff in dwp BIM layering object naming andQualityTo ensure that the Quality Management system is implemented and maintained and to evaluate where continual improvement can be madeCorporate ManagementResponsibilities include recruiting, developing and managing the work performance and behavior of employees in the Architecture studio
