We are seeking a Technical Safety / Process Safety Engineer with approximately 6–7 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas, LNG, LPG, Offshore, or Energy sector. The role will support the execution of technical safety and process safety engineering activities for a major energy project.
This is a one-year assignment with potential for extension, subject to project requirements and performance. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering disciplines, project teams, vendors, and safety study consultants to ensure that process safety and technical safety requirements are effectively implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Execute and support Technical Safety and Process Safety engineering activities for Oil & Gas / LNG / LPG projects.
Follow up and close out HAZOP/LOPA and safety study recommendations/actions with relevant disciplines and vendors.
Review Fire & Gas (F&G) layouts, cause & effect and coverage studies.
Review Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) studies and review related engineering deliverables.
Review Firewater, deluge, fire protection and passive fire protection (PFP) requirements.
Review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, plot plans, equipment layouts, datasheets, specifications, philosophies and cause & effect diagrams from a process/technical safety perspective.
Review vendor documentation and provide technical comments to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
Interface with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, Operations and other engineering disciplines.
Support preparation and review of Technical Safety deliverables, design basis, philosophies, calculations and reports.
Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, client specifications and project requirements.
Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, vendors and project stakeholders.
Support the Lead/Principal Engineer in resolving technical safety issues and ensuring timely delivery of project activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
6–7 years of relevant experience in Technical Safety / Process Safety engineering within Oil & Gas, LNG, LPG, Petrochemical, Offshore or related Energy projects.
Good practical experience in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, F&G, Hazardous Area Classification and Fire Protection.
Familiarity with LNG/LPG facilities, offshore facilities, terminals, storage facilities or marine/ship interfaces would be an advantage.
Good knowledge of relevant international standards such as NFPA, IEC, ISO, API, IOGP, IMO/SOLAS and SIGTTO, as applicable.
Experience with engineering document review and multidisciplinary project interfaces.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple technical activities and meet project deadlines.
