Behaviour Therapist

The Certified ABA Therapist is responsible for implementing individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental needs under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Manager and/or qualified Behaviour Analyst. The therapist will support children in developing functional communication, social interaction, learning, adaptive, self-help, and independence skills while implementing approved behaviour-management strategies and accurately documenting the child's progress.

Key Responsibilities
1. ABA Program Implementation
- Implement individualized ABA treatment and skill-acquisition programs as developed by the supervising clinician.
- Follow treatment protocols, behaviour intervention plans, and teaching procedures consistently.
- Provide structured one-to-one ABA therapy sessions.
- Use evidence-based ABA techniques such as prompting, reinforcement, shaping, chaining, modelling, and prompt fading.
- Modify teaching strategies only as directed or approved by the supervising clinician. 2. Skill Development
- Teach and develop functional communication and language skills.
- Work on verbal operants, including mands, tacts, listener responding, and other communication skills as included in the child's program.
- Develop social interaction, play, joint attention, and school-readiness skills.
- Teach adaptive and daily living skills, including toileting, dressing, feeding, hygiene, and personal-care routines.
- Promote independence and generalization of acquired skills across people, environments, and activities. 3. Behaviour Management
- Implement approved behaviour-reduction programs under clinical supervision.
- Support children who demonstrate challenging behaviours such as tantrums, aggression, self-injury, elopement, refusal, or other behaviours identified in the treatment plan.
- Identify and respond appropriately to behavioural triggers according to the child's approved behaviour plan.
- Use positive reinforcement and other approved ABA strategies to increase appropriate replacement behaviours.
- Maintain a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. 4. Data Collection and Documentation
- Collect accurate and objective data during therapy sessions.
- Record skill-acquisition and behaviour data according to the child's program requirements.
- Complete daily session notes and progress documentation accurately and on time.
- Report significant changes, incidents, concerns, or lack of progress to the supervising clinician.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information. 5. Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with Behaviour Analysts, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, teachers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Attend clinical meetings, supervision sessions, case discussions, and training programs.
- Implement recommendations provided by the supervising clinician and multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers within the therapist's scope of practice. 6. Parent and Caregiver Support
- Provide parents/caregivers with appropriate feedback regarding therapy sessions and the child's progress as directed by the supervising clinician.
- Support caregiver implementation of recommended strategies when required.
- Encourage consistency between therapy, home, and educational environments.
- Maintain professional boundaries and respectful communication with families. 7. Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Follow policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements, and health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and supervision.
- Keep knowledge and skills updated in accordance with professional and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all assigned duties and documentation are completed within the required timelines. Pay: AED1.00
