We're expanding our R&D team in Saif Zone Area, Sharjah, UAE, and looking for experienced Battery Engineers and Battery Technicians who are currently based in the UAE.
What you will do
- Lead development of solid-state cell chemistry, electrode and electrolyte formulations, and cell architecture optimised for high energy density, fast charge, and aerospace-grade safety
- Define and qualify manufacturing processes for electrode coating, electrolyte deposition, stacking, sealing, and formation, and own the transfer from pilot line to production
- Specify, evaluate, and commission production equipment; work with equipment vendors and our Taiwan PCB facility on integration of cell monitoring and BMS interfaces
- Build the cell test programme: cycle life, calendar life, rate capability, thermal abuse, nail penetration, altitude, and vibration profiles relevant to UAV operation
- Drive failure analysis and root-cause investigations using electrochemical (EIS, GITT, dQ/dV), thermal, and post-mortem techniques
- Establish quality systems and process controls for cell production, including SPC, incoming material qualification, and traceability
- Lead certification and compliance work for target markets, including UN 38.3, IEC 62133 / IEC 62619, UL 1642 / UL 2054, CE marking, and EU Battery Regulation requirements
- Work with the drone platform teams on pack integration, BMS requirements, and charging strategy
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians as the team grows What we are looking for
- Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in lithium-ion or solid-state cell development, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or scale-up environment
- Direct experience with at least one solid-state electrolyte system (sulfide, oxide, halide, or polymer) and a clear understanding of interfacial, dendrite, and stack-pressure challenges
- Strong knowledge of electrode processing, dry-room operations, and cell assembly equipment
- Proven track record of taking a cell design from coin or pouch prototype to pilot production
- Working knowledge of battery safety standards and transport/market-access certification
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, hands-on environment where you will build processes rather than inherit them
- Fluent English; willingness to travel to our facilities in Taiwan, North America, and Europe Nice to have
- Experience with battery requirements for UAV, aerospace, or other weight-critical applications
- Familiarity with BMS design, cell balancing, and state-of-health estimation
- Experience setting up a greenfield production line or cleanroom/dry-room facility
- Knowledge of EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542) obligations including battery passport and due diligence requirements
- Prior work in the GCC region
