Key Responsibilities
- Organize and lead carpentry team to fabricate formwork components (beams, columns, slabs, walls) precisely as per structural drawings
- Set out and install formwork accurately using measuring tools (tape, levels, plumb bobs), ensuring correct dimensions and alignments
- Verify that formwork design and assembly comply with structural tolerances and are capable of withstanding concrete pressure without deformation
- Supervise installation of props, shores, walers, and braces to provide adequate support during concrete casting
- Conduct daily inspections for damaged or weak shuttering components and coordinate timely repairs or replacements
- Collaborate with structural and site engineers for formwork approval before concrete pouring
- Schedule formwork stripping and dismantling after proper concrete curing time, ensuring no damage to concrete surfaces
- Plan manpower and tools allocation for efficient formwork execution matching project timelines
- Manage inventory of shuttering materials, maintaining proper storage on site to prevent warping or damage
- Ensure strict safety compliance during working at heights, handling heavy shuttering panels and tools
- Provide on-the-job training to carpentry labour on correct formwork assembly, safety, and quality standards
- Liaise with concrete pouring teams to synchronize formwork readiness and avoid delays Qualifications and
Experience:
- Secondary school certificate or Diploma.
- 12 or more years of practical site experience including 6 years as a Shuttering Carpentry Foreman in building construction in the UAE/GCC
- Able to read & interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings precise.
