Planning & Development Section Head
Role Purpose:
The Planning & Development Section Head is responsible for participating in the conceptualization, planning, and execution of special initiatives and projects. This includes coordinating with relevant work teams/task forces within and outside the Energy Department to ensure that their missions are successfully carried out.
Additionally, the Planning & Development Section Head is responsible for providing advice and recommendations regarding the coordination and alignment of control processes within the Department of Energy and the operational processes of related energy sector facilities.
Furthermore, the Planning & Development Section Head will assist the Director of Executive Affairs in coordinating with the appropriate authorities and entities to implement the Department of Energy's circulars and decisions and will monitor their implementation as required.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development, planning, and execution of special initiatives delegated by the Chairman, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and facilitating their successful completion through effective communication and coordination with relevant work teams within the Department of Energy
• Develop a monitoring and reporting system for special initiatives, including a dashboard, to track the status of all Department of Energy-funded projects and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Evaluate business cases for proposed special initiatives and provide guidance to DoE leadership and management in making decisions.
• Formulate objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for special initiatives and monitor their implementation throughout their implementation.
• Carry out the activities required to deliver enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
• Ensure that initiatives adhere to policies and standards.
• Manage communications with internal directorates and external stakeholders to accomplish special strategic activities delegated by the Chairman.
• Assist in coordinating with the relevant authorities and entities to implement the Department of Energy's circulars and decisions and follow up on their implementation as needed.
• Assist in ensuring that the Department of Energy's control processes and the operational processes of related facilities are aligned and consistent, and provide advice as needed. Maintain a current understanding of the sector's activities and developments.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Business Strategy, Business Administration, etc.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience, in executive planning and development. Core Capabilities:
• Ability to work with key stakeholders, senior management external parties, and advisors
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines
• Ability to conduct executive planning and development in accordance with the Department of Energy's strategy
• The ability to capitalize on the Department of Energy's objectives and analyze its performance, as well as that of its constituent directorates and sections, and to provide support by preparing reports on the sector's performance.
• Knowledge of the principles and procedures for providing services to the end user / applicant, including but not limited to assessing the customers' needs to determine the scope of the project and evaluate the extent of satisfaction
• Ability to keep up to date with sector changes and its consequent impact on DoE Experience & Exposure
• Analytical, problem solving and critical reasoning skills
