Company Description
Hameem Technologies is an Abu Dhabi based technology investment and innovation company focused on building national capability for the United Arab Emirates. The organisation identifies, invests in, and develops advanced technologies across defence and security, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technology. By combining capital, engineering expertise, and strong partnerships with world leading firms, Hameem Technologies moves solutions from prototype to deployable capability in real operational environments. As a mission led company, we measure success by the value our capabilities provide to the nation and by the trusted relationships we build with government bodies, technology partners, and suppliers.
Role Description
Everything Hameem Technologies does, from executive correspondence to project delivery, runs on its IT infrastructure. The IT Engineer owns that foundation end to end: the network, servers and cloud services, endpoints, licenses, email and collaboration platforms, and the security controls that protect them. In a business handling sensitive and export-controlled information, the role is as much about protection as availability: access is granted on need, revoked on exit, and every system is kept patched, backed up, and recoverable.
This is a hands-on engineering and support role — the Company's entire IT function in one person. We are looking for someone genuinely strong in their field, with real command of system design, server administration, and infrastructure architecture, who can be trusted to run critical systems independently and make sound calls under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Availability
• Build, maintain, and document the Company's network, servers, cloud services, email, and collaboration platforms for reliable daily operation
• Keep systems patched and updated on a disciplined schedule, planning maintenance to minimize disruption
• Run backups on a defined schedule and verify restorability — recovery is tested, not assumed
• Monitor capacity, performance, and licence positions, flagging needs before they become interruptions Security & Access Control
• Implement and maintain security controls appropriate to the business: endpoint protection, access management, and secure configuration
• Grant access strictly on documented need and revoke it the same day employment status changes — no leaver with access remaining
• Execute IT onboarding and offboarding with HR and the Office Manager so equipment and access always match employment status exactly
• Report every suspected security incident to the Director of Support Services immediately and support its containment and investigation Support, Assets & Vendors
• Provide responsive, courteous day-to-day IT support to all employees, resolving issues at root cause
• Maintain a complete, accurate register of IT assets and software licenses issued, returned, and reconciled
• Manage IT vendors, internet and telecom providers, and service contracts at working level within documented limits
• Procure IT equipment and services through Procurement within documented approvals Qualifications and Requirements
• UAE National (Emirati) — mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (mandatory)
• Professional certification such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent preferred
• 4+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure and support experience, ideally as a sole or small-team IT function
• Practical experience administering networks, Windows environments, Microsoft 365 or equivalent, and cloud services
• Working knowledge of IT security controls, access management, and backup/recovery practice
• Experience maintaining asset and licence registers with audit-ready discipline
• Experience in government or other security-conscious environments a strong advantage
• Skills and Competencies
• Network administration and troubleshooting
• Server, cloud, and Microsoft 365 administration
• Endpoint security, access management, and patching discipline
• Backup and recovery management with verified restores
• IT asset and licence management
• Service-minded, patient support to non-technical colleagues
• Security-first judgment with confidentiality instinct
• Structured documentation, ownership, and early escalation of risks with a proposed plan 📌 Please note: shortlisted candidates will complete a technical assessment as part of the interview process.
