Job Title: Document Control SpecialistCompany: Zone 5 TechnologiesLocation: Remote, United StatesEmployment Type: Full TimeSalary: $68,500 – $93,000 per yearRole OverviewZone 5 Technologies is seeking a Document Control Specialist to support its aerospace manufacturing and unmanned aircraft systems programs. The role focuses on managing controlled documentation, maintaining configuration records, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements throughout the manufacturing and delivery lifecycle.
You’ll coordinate documentation activities between headquarters, manufacturing partners, quality teams, engineering, logistics, and customers. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of document control processes, and the ability to manage technical records within a regulated aerospace environment.
Candidate Prerequisites3+ Years Aerospace/Defense Document Control | DD250 & Government Contract Documentation | AS9100/ISO 9001 Knowledge | EDMS/ERP/PLM ExperienceKey ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain controlled documentation for aerospace manufacturing programs according to company quality standards and customer requirements.
Prepare, review, and process DD Form 250 documentation for government and defense contract deliveries.
Coordinate documentation requirements between headquarters, production facilities, suppliers, quality assurance, engineering, and logistics teams.
Verify documentation packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before product shipment.
Maintain document revision control and configuration management throughout the product lifecycle.
Organize and maintain manufacturing records, Certificates of Conformance (CoC), inspection reports, First Article Inspection (FAI) documents, test reports, and shipping records.
Generate documentation packages and reports for customer reviews, demonstrations, acceptance testing, and sales activities.
Track production milestones and ensure documentation aligns with manufacturing schedules and delivery requirements.
Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records and retrieval systems.
Maintain electronic document management systems (EDMS) with proper security, version control, and traceability.
Identify documentation issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.
Requirements & QualificationsEducation &
Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience; minimum 3 years of documentation control experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or regulated industries, including experience processing DD250 documentation and government contract deliverables.
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and configuration management principles; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP, MRP, PLM, or electronic document management systems; experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) contracts is preferred; familiarity with Government Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) or PIEE systems is an advantage.
Core Competencies: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines; experience coordinating with multiple departments and third-party manufacturing partners.
