Job Title: Senior Structural Health Monitoring SpecialistLocation: United Arab Emirates (Remote)Employment Type: Full-TimeWork Arrangement: 100% Remote — Work From HomeLevel: SeniorAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Health Monitoring Specialist to support the assessment, monitoring, and performance evaluation of infrastructure assets, including bridges, buildings, tunnels, industrial structures, and other critical facilities. The successful candidate will analyze structural monitoring data, evaluate asset condition, identify potential deterioration or abnormal behavior, and provide technical recommendations to improve structural safety, reliability, and service life.
This fully remote role focuses on structural data analysis, monitoring system design reviews, vibration assessment, anomaly detection, technical reporting, and predictive maintenance support. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in structural engineering, sensor technologies, structural dynamics, and data interpretation, with the ability to collaborate remotely with engineering teams, infrastructure operators, asset managers, and field technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review structural health monitoring (SHM) strategies for bridges, buildings, tunnels, industrial facilities, and other infrastructure assets.
Analyze data collected from structural sensors, including strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers, inclinometers, tiltmeters, and temperature sensors.
Evaluate structural behavior under static and dynamic loading conditions using monitoring data and engineering assessment methods.
Interpret vibration measurements, modal frequencies, mode shapes, damping characteristics, and other structural dynamic parameters.
Identify abnormal structural responses, unusual movement patterns, potential deterioration indicators, and changes in asset performance.
Support the development of monitoring plans, sensor layouts, data acquisition requirements, and measurement monitoring system architectures, instrumentation documentation, sensor calibration records, and data collection procedures.
Establish baseline structural performance indicators and evaluate changes over time using historical and real-time monitoring statistical analysis, signal processing, trend analysis, and anomaly detection techniques to identify potential structural risks.
Support the integration of monitoring data with structural analysis models, digital twins, and asset management remote technical assessments of structural performance and recommend further investigation when monitoring results indicate potential concerns.
Collaborate with structural engineers to compare observed behavior with design assumptions, analytical predictions, and applicable acceptance criteria.
Assist with fatigue assessment, serviceability evaluation, vibration performance reviews, and long-term structural condition monitoring.
Develop dashboards, performance indicators, and automated reporting workflows to improve monitoring efficiency and data visibility.
Review monitoring data quality, sensor reliability, missing measurements, calibration information, and potential sources of measurement error.
Support the development of condition-based maintenance strategies and predictive maintenance technical reports, monitoring summaries, risk assessments, and recommendations for infrastructure owners and project stakeholders.
Maintain traceable records of monitoring data, analytical methods, assumptions, findings, and engineering remotely with field teams responsible for sensor installation, inspections, equipment maintenance, and physical verification activities.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and data analysts on structural monitoring methods, data interpretation, and reporting standards.
Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Significant professional experience in structural health monitoring, structural assessment, infrastructure engineering, or structural condition understanding of structural mechanics, structural dynamics, material behavior, and the performance of civil infrastructure under operational loading.
Experience analyzing data from structural monitoring systems and interpreting sensor measurements.
Knowledge of vibration analysis, modal identification, signal processing, statistical evaluation, and trend analysis.
Familiarity with structural instrumentation, including strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement sensors, inclinometers, and related data acquisition technologies.
Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, ANSYS, MIDAS Civil, or equivalent engineering in data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, or comparable scientific computing environments.
Understanding of relevant structural design, assessment, and monitoring standards, including applicable Eurocodes, ISO standards, or recognized
