The position combines engineering application administration with customization, database configuration, software development, troubleshooting, and project delivery support. The role is responsible for establishing S3D project environments and maintaining their reliability throughout engineering execution. This includes configuring project databases, permissions, system hierarchies, catalogs, piping specifications, naming rules, interference controls, filters, drawing styles, reports, review files, and custom commands. Technical support to designers is another critical responsibility. The administrator must understand engineering modeling practices well enough to diagnose application and configuration problems, distinguish system issues from modeling issues, and establish practical best practices that improve engineering productivity and data consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist administration support for Hexagon Smart 3D projects throughout setup, engineering execution, and project delivery.
Establish new S3D project environments in accordance with engineering and project requirements.
Perform day-to-day administration and configuration activities required to maintain stable engineering S3D administration deliverables with engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
Develop and maintain S3D catalogs required by multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Create piping specifications and associated piping a sound understanding of piping rules when configuring specifications and catalog content.
Build and administer equipment catalog components within S3D.
Develop electrical catalog content according to project requirements.
Configure instrumentation catalogs and associated engineering objects.
Create structural catalog content required for project modeling.
Develop symbols supporting engineering model requirements.
Maintain consistency between catalog configuration and project engineering standards.
Configure piping isometric output to satisfy project drafting and documentation requirements.
Customize S3D piping isometrics, including development and configuration of labels.
Troubleshoot isometric output issues resulting from configuration, data, or modeling conditions.
Create and maintain General Arrangement drawing view styles.
Develop GA view styles supporting piping drawings.
Configure drawing presentation requirements for electrical disciplines.
Establish view styles for instrumentation deliverables.
Support structural drawing configuration through appropriate S3D view styles.
Develop engineering reports from S3D detailed knowledge of S3D interfaces and class relationships when designing reporting solutions.
Create complex reports using COM technologies.
Support report development using VB.
Net or C# where applicable.
Ensure reports extract and present engineering information accurately for project users.
Develop custom commands to extend standard S3D functionality.
Use C# and VB.
Net for custom command creation where project requirements call for application-level engineering productivity through practical customization rather than unnecessary manual processes.
Maintain custom solutions so that they remain compatible with established project workflows.
Configure GWC as part of project administration requirements.
Perform S3D setup activities including database and administer Permission Groups according to project access requirements.
Configure S3D system hierarchy during project setup.
Maintain appropriate user access while protecting controlled project interference checking environments.
