Senior Design Engineer – BIM (Infrastructure Focus)

Our client, a leading semi-government real estate developer delivering major masterplanned destinations and infrastructure-rich communities across the UAE, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer – BIM (Infrastructure Focus) to join their expanding Design & Technical team,. In this role

you will help shape the digital delivery of complex infrastructure assets, supporting multi-disciplinary teams across design, engineering, and construction.

This strategic role will support large-scale infrastructure programs, including:

  • Roads & highways
  • Utilities (wet & dry services)
  • Public realm & landscape works
  • Bridges, tunnels, and mobility networks
  • District-wide infrastructure and enabling works

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure BIM Delivery

  • Implement BIM workflows for
    infrastructure assets
    including roads, utilities, public realm, and civil structures.
  • Develop and maintain 3D/4D/5D models covering all infrastructure disciplines.
  • Lead clash detection, model coordination, interface resolution, and digital QA/QC for infrastructure packages.
  • Support creation of Asset Information Models (AIM) for infrastructure networks using COBie standards.

Design Engineering & Coordination

  • Provide design engineering input to ensure infrastructure models align with technical standards and design intent.
  • Coordinate civil, utilities, structural, and landscape models with other project disciplines.
  • Interpret infrastructure drawings, specifications, and engineering data into BIM workflows.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, engineering documentation, and design deliverables.

Digital Platforms & Systems Integration

  • Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) across all infrastructure packages.
  • Support integration of BIM models with Digital Twin platforms for monitoring and maintaining infrastructure assets.
  • Assist in linking models with IoT-enabled systems (SCADA, BMS, meters) and ERP/FM solutions.
  • Develop 4D sequencing for infrastructure program timelines and progress simulations.

Governance, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare BIM execution plans, discipline-specific scopes, and infrastructure-related specifications.
  • Represent BIM and digital engineering topics in internal and external infrastructure coordination meetings.
  • Support training sessions and capability-building for BIM adoption in infrastructure teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement, digital transformation, and automation within infrastructure design workflows.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in BIM roles within
    infrastructure, civil engineering, or utilities projects
    .
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale development infrastructure (roads, utilities, masterplanning, etc.).
  • Previous experience working with developers, consultancies, or major project environments preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong command of Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM 360, InfraWorks, or similar civil BIM tools.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure standards, engineering requirements, and multi-disciplinary interfaces.
  • Understanding of Digital Twin concepts, GIS integration, and infrastructure asset management.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills across engineering disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, particularly for civil and utilities coordination.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes and fast-moving development environments.
