Accountant – Construction Site & Contracting

Department: Accounts

Reports To:nGeneral Manager

Location: Construction Site & Head Office (UAQ)

Job Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for managing all financial, accounting, and cost-control activities related to construction projects and contracting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with UAE regulations, timely reporting, and effective cost monitoring of site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

  2. Maintain proper books of accounts in accordance with IFRS and UAE regulations

  3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  4. Reconcile bank accounts, cash books, and general ledger
  5. Monitor accounts receivable and payable
  6. Ensure accurate recording of project-related transactions

Site Accounting & Cash Handling

  • Manage site petty cash and ensure proper documentation
  • Verify site expenses, delivery notes, and material invoices
  • Coordinate with site engineers and project managers for cost verification
  • Maintain records of LPOs, GRNs, delivery notes, and site invoices

Payroll & Staff Costs

  • Prepare monthly payroll for site and office staff
  • Track overtime, allowances, deductions, and end-of-service benefits
  • Ensure compliance with UAE labor law requirements
  • Maintain employee salary and leave records

VAT & Statutory Compliance (UAE)

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time
  • Maintain VAT records for input and output tax
  • Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants
  • Ensure compliance with FTA, labor, and commercial regulations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in a construction or contracting company
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting and cost control
  • Experience in UAE accounting environment preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or ERP systems)
  • Strong knowledge of Excel (cost sheets, cash flow, reports)
  • Understanding of construction contracts and project accounting
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Knowledge of VAT in the UAE is mandatory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED3, AED5,000.00 per month
