Position Overview

The Finance & Business Development Director will lead Spektus Pharma's financial planning and accounting activities while supporting with strategic business development functions. This role will be responsible for implementing robust financial and accounting infrastructure along with managing commercial forecasting and global partnership initiatives as well. The ideal candidate brings both strong technical finance/accounting expertise (
CPA-qualified
) and commercial acumen within the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting Leadership

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, UAE, US, EU).
• Manage global accounting systems, financial controls, and audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and cross-border tax and transfer pricing regulations.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, cash flow forecasts, and long-range budgets.
• Lead valuation and DCF analyses to support financing, royalty, and licensing transactions.
• Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors to optimize financial structure and risk management.

Business Development & Strategy

• Support the CEO and VP of BD in evaluating and executing strategic partnerships, licensing, and co-development agreements.
• Conduct market assessments, financial modeling, and commercial forecasting for pipeline and in-licensed products.
• Contribute to portfolio strategy by benchmarking competitive products and evaluating ROI scenarios.
• Prepare business cases, investor materials, and presentations for board, investor, and partner discussions.
• Lead financial due diligence for transactions and manage data room preparation for investors.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with R&D, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to align financial planning with development milestones and go-to-market strategy.
• Support negotiation of global supply, royalty, and marketing agreements with partners in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

• CPA designation with active membership in good standing.
• 5–10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry (generic or innovator).
• Deep understanding of accounting standards, financial modeling, and cross-border taxation.
• Proficiency in valuation methodologies (DCF, NPV, scenario modeling).
• Strong command of Excel and modern ERP/accounting platforms.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Strongly Preferred:

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree in finance, strategy, or management.
• Experience in business development, portfolio forecasting, and licensing transactions in the pharma sector.
• Familiarity with market research and competitive positioning for CNS or specialty pharma products.
• Demonstrated experience in structuring and negotiating global partnerships or financing transactions.
