Position Title: Carpenter

Department: Construction / Site Operations

Location: Various Project Sites

Reports To: Site Engineer / Foreman / Construction Manager

1. Position Summary

The Carpenter is responsible for performing all types of carpentry work related to construction activities, including formwork, shuttering, installation, repairs, and finishing tasks. The role ensures that all carpentry works are executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Carpentry & Formwork

  • Construct, install, and repair formwork and shuttering for concrete structures (slabs, beams, columns, walls).
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials.
  • Install temporary structures, scaffolding planks, supports, and safety barriers.
  • Build and fix door frames, window frames, partitions, and wooden fixtures as required.

B. Construction Activities

  • Assist in pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete where necessary.
  • Support other skilled workers such as masons, steel fixers, and electricians when required.
  • Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and finishing of all carpentry work.

C. Tools & Equipment

  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools such as saws, drills, planers, chisels, and measuring tools.
  • Ensure tools are used safely and kept in good working condition.

D. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all site safety rules, PTW (Permit to Work), and HSE procedures.
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and incidents to the Site Supervisor or HSE Officer.

E. Quality Control

  • Ensure all carpentry work meets project quality requirements and tolerances.
  • Coordinate with Site Engineer for inspections and approvals.
  • Perform corrections and modifications as instructed.

3. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Carpenter in construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience in formwork, shuttering, and structural carpentry is essential.
  • Experience in commercial, residential, or infrastructure construction is preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and measurements.
  • Excellent carpentry and finishing skills.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, dimensions, and construction techniques.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically fit to work on construction sites.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor conditions.

5. Additional Notes

  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and in remote site locations when required.
