Position Overview

Planning Engineer role focused on project planning, scheduling, and progress control for a major cycle track and road infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. This position supports the construction supervision team by managing schedules, monitoring progress, and assessing time-related risks and claims, ensuring delivery in line with client milestones, contractual requirements, and best project controls practices. This role is ideal for experienced planning engineers with strong Primavera expertise and UAE infrastructure project exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and assess contractor-submitted baseline and updated construction schedules.
  • Recommend acceptance or rejection of contractor programs and submit recommendations to the client for approval.
  • Monitor actual progress against the approved schedule and report deviations to the Planning Manager and project management team.
  • Coordinate with PMC and contractor planning engineers on all scheduling, sequencing, and progress-related matters.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc progress reports in accordance with client and PMC requirements.
  • Forecast project performance against critical milestones and approved schedules.
  • Assess schedule impacts resulting from design changes, construction variations, or delays.
  • Identify potential risks to project completion dates and promptly notify the client and management team.
  • Review and analyze contractor recovery programs and participate in mitigation strategy discussions.
  • Support assessment and analysis of time-related claims, extensions of time, and delay events.
  • Assist in progress validation, KPI monitoring, and preparation of detailed project status and planning reports.

Desired Candidate Profile

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling for major road, highway, or infrastructure projects, preferably in the UAE.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar planning role with an engineering consultancy or project management consultancy in the UAE.
  • Proven experience using Primavera P6, Primavera Contract Management, and integrated project controls systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling methodologies, and time impact analysis techniques.
  • Experience completing at least one comparable infrastructure project in a senior planning role.
